New to this forum, I just bought a classic 50 and I would like to know if the variator has a restricting washer in it like some scooters do, looking forward to joining this forum.

Normally four strokes dont. But it's always worth checking.

well if the speedo is right it went 42 this morning and it had more, but I'm sure the speedo is optimistic. so maybe it's not restricted.

Normally four strokes dont. But it's always worth checking. yes but depend where. north america = very very very rare. europe = ALWAYS. its not a restriction anyway. alot of scooter sold in europe have a RESTRICTION on carburetor butterfly WTF....

Most of the GY6 stuff doesn't have a variator restriction here. It's limited by the CDI usually. Some are electronically limited by a speed sensor. And others by a limit on the amount the slide can raise.
