I was going downhill and I heard a loud pop with a burnt smell and the moped turned off. Tried to turn it back on but it go stuck and neither the electric start or kickstart work.
At home I opened cvt removed everything and put it back in. I tried again the electric and kickstart and it would crank but it sounded like it was spinning freely. And after a few tries it would get stuck again. I opened and noticed the Bendix a bit out of place which was what had it stuck. But even when I put it back in place it spins but still doesn't turn the engine to start and turn on.
Anyone know what the problem could be?

The Bendix will move out of place when the CVT cover is removed, as the outboard end of it is held by a bushing supported by the CVT case. Your electric and kick starter are doing what they are supposed to if the crankshaft rotates when they are engaged/used. If you cannot crank the engine through two complete revolutions without binding or jamming, likely there is something broken internally. First check would be to remove the spark plug, and insert a pencil, small screwdriver or a wooden dowel into the hole and crank the engine. If the crankshaft, connecting rod and piston are intact, the motion would move whatever up and down. Next would be the rocker arms, cam, and timing chain. Remove the rocker arm/cam cover and repeat the crankshaft rotation test. Watch the cam turn and the rockers move the valves. If all that is functional, I got no clue... tom

The Bendix goes out of place while cover is on. The variator seems to move only a certain amount left or right.
I opened it up again and saw that the Bendix gets jammed because the variator gets stuck.

The Bendix and variator should not come into contact with each other. If they do meet, something is wrong. Did you check that there is a bushing in the CVT cover? Directly across from the tip of the Bendix there should be a bushing(brass/gold-ish) pressed into the bore in the CVT cover. It does NOT come with a replacement CVT cover if you had to repalace yours or it was replaced before it was in your possession. Without that bushing, the Bendix can flop around, bounce off the teeth of the crankshaft gear, and have a party all by itself... If you have a non-standard CVT cover, or one that is modified, it could lack the bushing. Take a pic of the kick starter mechanism and 'forward' of the CVT cover, showing in detail the area NW of the center of the kick start. From memory, that should be the area where the Bendix bushing will inhabit. tom

I removed the carb and it had metal fragments in it. As if something went up the intake manifold. I'm guessing something in the head was grinded and is destroyed. The fragments look like aluminum shake.
Could the engine be ruined from this?
Is it the head, a piston? Or the crank shaft?
Do I have to remove and look inside or is there a way to know from just seeing the metal fragments

The engine has blown. New engines can be purchased for some scoots. You must be very mechanically inclined to replace it. Otherwise the scoot can be sold for parts, price would depend on condition, etc.
