I am not an educator, obviously, and I can barely read and write after three strokes. I found this article interesting.
Unfortunately I believe this has been going on for decades, not just 5-10 years. I remember even when I was in high school back in the 60's, that there was a real drive on to express ideas in 25 words or less. The concept which later became 'sound bites' because people just did not have the capacity to concentrate for longer. I found this idea to be true for most of my fellow students even in college. Today even reading the news is painful because even the so called professional journalists can not write a coherent headline or sentence. The talking-head newscasters are even worse.
