I've been dreaming of a scooter work table for at least a couple of years now, but I've never had a spot I was willing to give up for it. Sold my Mustang, so I finally have a good spot. A lift would be nice, but I didn't want to spend over $300 on even the cheapest I've seen. My carpentry skills are pretty bad, so I just went with a simple idea. I had some delusions of more features, but this way is cheaper, easier, and keeps the weight down so I could just stand it on end to save space if necessary.
A bunch of 2x4s and a sheet of plywood. Went with 19/32" because the 3/4" I saw was $49-56 for a 4x8 and this was $25. I think it'll work fine even for heavier bikes, with a little more bracing perhaps.
Being assembled.
Assembled. 78" long x 24" wide x 22 19/32" tall. Made it so the table top is just about even with my lap when sitting in the chair. Seems like it'll be a good working height.
I'd love to put a steel top on, but that's expensive. For now, I painted it with some primer and paint I had leftover from painting a shed to give it some protection from whatever may spill on it.
It was way too white for me. I like black scoots and black clothes and so on. I had to do something different to the top. I had planned flames, but I was feeling far too lazy for that this morning. I'll prob bang it up and make it ugly the first time a scoot's on it anyway.
The paint is still curing, but at some point I've got a few final touches to add. I'm pretty happy with it... but anytime I work with wood and saws and it comes out basically as planned I'm happy. lol It'll have right about $100 into it when it's all done.
