i got pulled over one day right after i got this new taotao and the weight limit is 225lbs. the scooter didnt have 30 kilometers on the thing and i had to call a family member to come get it so it didnt get impounded. well, he ended up coming to get it but didnt ride it. a 350lb woman drove it back and when i got out and rode it, that is when i found something wasnt it right. its had a lose in power and was had to start and just didnt want to go. i forgot about all of this b/c i knew nothing about the weight limit on the scooter and just discovered that there was one. can any tell me what type of damage was done when she rode it back. this is what i an tell so far, there was a loss in power, it wouldnt start, when i pulled the back the throttle it whole stall out and just wouldnt go. there was also some hesitation for a while. its runs alot better now. all i could do at the time was change the gas and adjust the idle and it ran a lil better

I think weight limits apply to frame strength and not effect the engine.

I've checked mine and it looks fine. its well new but should i inspect more? I didn't expect for this to happen. I have seen alot of dust but that is about all.

"the rope broke with a loud snap" synonyms: shatter, smash, crack, snap, fracture, fragment, splinter, fall to bits, fall

I'm 300lb and fine riding my TaoTao. The ratings are mostly about the frame strength. It puts more load on the scoot with a lot of weight, but shouldn't mess it up immediately with one ride I wouldn't think. Check for pinched lines and loose connections under the seat bucket. If a fuel or vacuum hose was under there it may pinch with the extra weight.
