Ok my wife has a 2005 CPI Oliver City scooter. What will be the best upgrade that I can do to get more top end speed out of it? I've ordered a set of 1.5 clutch and contra springs for it.

My first mod was a Leo vince zx pipe. Don't get me wrong I like the pipe but if I was to do it again I would start with a cast iron big bore kit. Cheeper more power you can't beat displacement lol. Looks stock. 90gtvert has run stock pipes on 90cc plus motors with good results. Cast iron sport bbk's are forgiving and should make more power everywhere and make the bike very enjoyable. You can always add a pipe later for more.

I agree, you can get a $60 bbk and will make a big difference. Then pick up a leo vince pipe for $150 bucks you will be happy.

Check the final drive ratio. If it has 13:1,s in it i would get a taller gear first. You can mark the wheel and the clutch bell. Spin them and count the revolutions, then compare. 13 turns of the clutch bell to get one full turn of the wheel would mean you have very short gears, limiting speed with pretty much any set-up including stock.

My Eton is 13.5 and zuma is 13.25:1. Both bikes are limited by the gears Eton is stock Zuma has a pipe and both are done by 38 to 44 mph gps because they are revving past their power peak. The bikes I've ridden with taller gears pull better longer and give up very little in the first 5 to 10 foot. I like a bbk followed by a pipe but taller gears will allow a stock engine to stay in it's power range to a higher speed and will compliment future mods Sent from my SPH-L720 using proboards

Some of the early Zuma's were 14.6:1 and nothing helped them before a re gear because of the rpm

My 2t has 11.1:1 gears. Reading this makes me happy. Once it gets warm and I can work on it, it should be a pretty fast stock scooter.

Some come stock with a good ratio so always check. The Oliver has a 10:1 and a 13:5:1 combo that i know of, but you never know what your gonna get or have until you check.

What will be a good bbk that will do great with a stock exhaust? My wife doesn't want the scooter any louder.

I have a cast iron Ruima BBK listed in the for sale section.70cc like all other 2 stroke kits and it has loads of power and works great for stock pipes due to its porting. My Jonway Hornet had 13.5:1 gearing and with one of those BBK's ryan and I got 44-48mph with a stock exhaust. But 13.5:1 is a bit low for gearing..thankfully my Adly Thunder Bike 50 came with 11.1 gearing.. I now have another of those kits since I recently bought out most of the parts from a small scoot shop that went out of business in my area...and I am selling it new for $35.00+shipping.. Cylinder..piston..wrings wristpin..head..gasket set..etc.. It is a complete ready to bolt on kit.. Glenn

Thanks for all the help. Does anybody know what size wrist pin the 2005 CPI Oliver City uses? I'm trying to purchase a bbk kit. Do I have to change the jet in the carb also? I'm running the stock exhaust.

I'm running the stock exhaust. Even with a stock exhaust and airbox..YES you must upjet.. most 2T's come with a #74-#78.. For a BBK on your setup with airbox and stock pipe many use a #85 jet with just a BBK only. But jets are cheap....this site has them for $4.99 and most all motorcycle shops sell them cheap as well.. They are VM11/22 style Mikuni jets. Here is a link to one site..jets are near the bottom of the page.. www.scrappydogscooters.com/50CC_2-STROKE_PARTS.htmlEbay sells lots of them and also many websites that folks here can link ya to..

PFS sells a jet kit (part # 114-50) for about $15 and there's 10% off this month with code "GEARUP14". Instead of 3 jets for $15 you get 10. You can also get the half sizes from sits like JetsRUs and RockyMountainATV.
2004 and beyond CPI should be 12mm wrist pin. Never hurts to check, but that's what they are supposed to be.
