Deleted the oil pump, tuned the carb, and put my girlfriend’s scooter back together today. Got her mostly situated for the warm weather and being able to scoot around town. Good feeling to have her scooter on the road. The life both of our scooters lived before I got a hold of them was a rough one..going to be tearing them both down this winter I think.
Next is mine. Tidying up some odds and ends on it. I’m always amazed at how long doing a few simple things ends up taking. I’m also working at my girlfriend’s and on her balcony where I have to work very neatly and stuff. So that takes a lot of extra time I suppose.

J-B'd the exhaust last night around 8pm. We'll see if it holds. Ironically my jb weld is old, very old but real thick n was able to stir the compounds. Its been 10 1/2 hrs. Over the recommended 6hrs.

Piddled with the Jonway a bit yesterday between better paying work. Managed to finally get the base gasket off of the cylinder, I wouldn't be surprised to hear the PO used super gkye or JB Weld to attach the gasket to the jug. I matched the intake to the spacer, and cleaned up the shitty casting of the intake some. Parts should start coming in tomorrow, with the rest coming Friday.

The race cam came in, supposedly it's the most radical cam that I can run with this style head. Only a bit more lift, but a much longer duration.

Had suspicions that the CVT on the Jonway was is bad shape, beat the hell.out of the cover, prud, chsiled and cursed, and finally got the cover off.
The TD will open easy enough, but doesn't close back while stationary, even spinning the crank and vari doesnt bring the belt back up. Going to have to disassemble that mess to clean it up.

Front harness shorted to back of front turn signal bracket nut, blew big fuse. They mashed too many unprotected wires where they shouldn't have. Found a bunch of hidden wire rub spots I need to address under the tank and at the thru hole for rear lights etc. Got it sorted I think just need a fuse and before I close it up I want to find that m#($8:#&_$ing turn signal beep speaker and destroy it with fire.

Had to exorcise some demons* today, and afterwards went and got another Scoot Tag. Yay me!!!
*Changed the GY6 harness after the starter relay died on the other one. Couldn't wait for the new relay to arrive and the harness was just laying there so....

Piston ring kit and head arrived today, but the gaskets are still a day out...it turned out good, as it gave me the time to clean up and lightly port the head. Took the casting grit and gnarly knots out of the ports, removed mounds and ridges from the chain channel in hopes the oil would flow easier. Can't believe how tiny these combustion chambers are...
Got the CVT cleaned and greased what needed it, rollers are shockingly in great shape, which is odd because they're stock. Whoever had this pile before my buddy, actually took care of it, and I even found evidence of a PDI having been done. The electrical connections were all taped, and zip tied to the frame, the hoses weren't that gummy cheap shit, and it had a fuel filter.
Tomorrow is the big day, I'm actually anxious to get this thing out of my shop and on the road. Buddy's gonna be pissed, but it isntnleavingnmy care until I am satisfied that it is tuned and running properly. My name is on it now, and I don't wanna let this thing go early, and have some stupid little gremlin jump on and bring old man Murphy along for the ride. Besides, I've never ridden a 150 and it's small frame, so it should be fun. I went from 50 to ~70 to 260 and then 250. So the gy6 is new to me. This is the first one I've worked on...

Painted my side panels, they'll need some finish work tomorrow. The C70 Passport peg stand has come in, so it's been degreased and painted.
Hope to buy the bolts tomorrow and mount it. It's so much beefier than the stock CT200 unit.

Waited on the mail for the gaskets this morning, only to be left disappointed yet again. I guess Gaurenteed delivery isn't a damn Gaurentee...assholes.
So I prepped what I could, and cleaned the motor up, there was a.quarter inch of oil sludge in the damn shrouds, yet another clue to the idiocy of its current owner. Friend or not, I straight told him he needs to either learn to take care of his shit or give it up. When I asked him about adjusting the valves, he gave me that deer in the headlights, empty headed look of "Duhhh, what?"....
I managed to mess up the head gasket, had it in a drawer, and someone, not sure who. YET, went rifiling through the drawers and bent the hell.out of the gasket, so I paid the stupid tax and bought one at closest power sports place. 25.99 for a head gasket and base gasket.
Still anxious, wanna ride this little beast and make sure its right before he gets it back, and if its not right by Sunday evening, I get docked $50 bucks. If its done I get the full price I quoted for the job. I still hurt myself, I didn't charge enough for this aggrevation..

A few months ago someone that I met broken down on the side of the road with her brand new Tao Zip Super Chinese scooter, I don't remember the name, while I was looking at it the guy that sold it to her came and took it away and gave her back old one. Her Boyfriend got my phone number to contact me if they needed any thing fixed on the old scooter she got back. Fast forward to Saturday and she came knocking on my door to arrange to have me work on her scoot. I was free on Wednesday and so was she so that was the day. She brought the scooter into my garage and put it on the lift. It was hard to start and the front end looked like it hit a curb hard. This would be a fun day. It was a 2004 Meihien QT50-2 your basic Chinese 139QMB. First was an oil change not bad, she said the BF, I mean ex BF had changed that. He overfilled it a bit but it was all replaced. Gear oil was a lot thick and looked original. The CVT Was tough to open but I won in the end. With just 2300KM on it everything looked okay we cleaned it out and I checked rollers, all good.
The rear brake was good but the front master cylinder was almost dry. I bled the brakes down and got them to do something. But that front end was bent everyway to Sunday. I wanted to check the valves but wanted them to cool a little more. Perfect excuse to go get lunch. Turns out that we both have the same favorite "I can't make up my mind" place for lunch. The meal was good and the company better. After lunch she found out she needed to go into work at 4 but needed to get ready so I loaned her the Vespa s50 and off she went. The valves were not bad but I got the perfect. I measured the Triple tree and it was not the same as the Partsforscooters had so I attempted straightening it, it was a small improvement. I got it to start and run again but the idle was all over the place like an air leak, I tried starter fluid and found nothing.
I took it for a ride and it was okay, It would die at a light sometimes but had decent acceleration. But that front end is really scary and the head lights are non existent. When she got off work she texted me and I told her that I couldn't possibly allow her to ride that scooter until things got fixed and to use the Vespa until I got things sorted out. I have an acquaintance that has a Buddy that he bought for his daughter and it was too fast and scared her so he wants to get rid of it. It would be perfect for this girl and solve his problem of getting rid of it. Now I just need to get him to return my email. It was a fun day in the garage working on a beat up scooter.

Still working the demons out from the harness burn. Kept popping glass fuses till I put a 20 a in. Turn signals were acting funny, specifically the front left. Good excuse to throw on the led ones I bought. Changed glass fuse to 15 a mini blade type, voila. Thought I was good, then the Headlight overheated on the ride home and nearly melted a hole in the front lens. I disconnected the high beam prong from the back of the socket and taped it up. For now I have low beams switched on or off. Going to go led there too nevermind this halogen stuff.
