I put the battery in the beast and after some coaxing it started up. Thanx stabil! Rode around for a bit and it wanted to die when giving it gas. I think it was a combination of sorta cold weather and it not being fully warmed up. Was fun tho!

Put the, newly painted, side panels back onto the bike. Screwed the new throttle cable into place. The C70 peg bar is looking good, though I still have to get some shorter bolts to mount it.

Put the engine together for the Jonway. Wasn't thinking and just tossed the cylinder, head and can on, then set the rocker assembly on there torqued it up and went to turn it over. It wouldn't do a full rotation. I went into panic mode, thinking I just buggered up this motor. Pull the top end, check the cylinder everything is okay. Now, I don't claim to be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but even I know how stupid I was to not check the damn valve adjustment before trying to spin the motor. Yep, the exhaust valve was so damn tight the valve was wide open with ¾ of a lobe left....dumb ass..
Do a quick setting, toss it together and it now rotates, but no compression. Now I'm pissed. Again I jump to worst case scenario and think the rings have snagged and broken, because I don't use a ring compressor....nope, I just didn't have the valves adjusted right. I will be so dned happy to get this thing out of here and be done with it. Has two too many strokes for my liking. I did get it running and rode it to get a base line, and it tops out at 50ish mph. It shifts too soon and dosnt downshift again til its dead stopped. So time to look at the CVT.
Those water cooled Honda engine had me spoiled, I'm happy to be back with an air cooled engine, but will still be stoked to be done with it. Can't believe how many stupid ass rookie mistakes I made with this engine today.

Took my ruck on a ride to the inspection place so I can get it registered and fully legal again. But before that I was able to take my daughter on a ride around the neighborhood. After the swap she had been a bit scared because the new exhaust is too loud, but she has been asking to go on a ride all winter. She's not legally able to ride on it yet but she will be later this year which is why I only took her around the neighborhood. Needless to say she's hooked so in about 10 years she might have her own build thread on here 😎🤙🏼

I might be able to get her to agree to a car show or two by the time she turns 8 or 9 as long as she has the right gear 🤞🏻

Maiden voyage of the Jogs yesterday! Recently got them running. Took roughly a 30 mile trip around the area and discovered they definitely do not get the 65 mpg they once may have haha.

Stopped in a park on the water to change batteries in the GoPro. Some old guy on a Jazzy Power Chair rolled up to me. "That's a scooter, right?", he asked. "Yeh." "How fast will it go?" "About a hundred." His head snapped back like I just struck him with a jab as he said, "My God! That's way faster than I thought." I told him it was a 500cc and not a 49cc. He said, "That explains it". Then he told me he bought a Hayabusa to resell once. Pronounced by him as "hey-uh-boo-sah". "Those things will go 200MPH. No one needs to go that fast. I took it up the street and back once and it scared the daylights outta me." Then he proceeded to tell me we should have a scooter race and I said "Let's go!". He chuckled and told me to have a nice ride as he rode away leaving imprints in the soft ground under the grass that I don't think he was supposed to be on. lol

Got the Jonway together, adjusted and took it for a test drive. What was supposed to be a ½ mile each way turned into 12miles each way. Holy shit, I didn't think these things had guts. This little Fugger surprised me. 57mm bore, everything is stock, from what I saw. Had my phone with the GPS with me (of course, who doesn't take their phone on a test drive...) Dcidex to test it for top end on a good straight stretch with a gentle curve at the end. Was at 67mph when I backed out. I thought these were good for 55-60 tops? This little blue bastard still had more to go, but I was taken by surprise, and admit it kind of scared me for a second. I have named it The Demon Smurf, and I am going to try to buy it from my buddy....just don't tell the wife!

I realized the Zuma is now almost as wheelie prone as an Elite after adding the oversized TD. I went down the street to tell my kids to come home, left with a handful of throttle and I get yelled at by my son “Dad you can’t do that”, oops! Now to get a fresh cylinder on here for the season.
