I walked out and peered into the garage to make sure Lucy was still on the trickle charger -- told her I'll be checking her over soon to tally what repairs are needed...

I rode to Taylor's Island. Pollen was crazy today. I could see a haze of pollen as I approached the wooded entrance to the swamps. Green dust was lying in the roads, making rings around puddles, and when a car was ahead of me it stirred up a cloud more like what I'd expect riding down a dry dirt road.

All I did today and yesterday was ride both scooters with temperature hitting low 80's here. Had a soft seize on violet. The joys of jetting to be done another day though

Almost got everything up to snuff for the upcoming season. Very close to having jets dialed in. I've had to really downsize both idle and main jet sizes. I'm way down to a 33 slow, and it is definitely still too rich down there. Black plug. Did a couple WOT test runs and immediately shut off the bike for plug checks. I thought it was still rich, but on the contrary, it looks like the 100 main is finally running a little lean. My overtemp warning light also came on briefly yesterday when I came up to stop. If I get to it today, probably go with a 102 main and see how it runs. Looks lean, right? : first run second run

I installed a 26mm Keihin, up from a 24mm knock-off. I just put the 102 main back in and ran the same WOT test. It still looks pretty lean. I just ordered 30, 31, and 32 slows - when those come in, I'll bump the slow down to a 32 and put in a 105 for the main.

The Elite from Hell is still here, taking up space...the place I ordered the gaskets fem sent the wrong head gasket, emailed them with a copy.of the order email.and the shipping receipt with different part numbers on them, they shipped the right ones out today.
The 150 Jonway is back for a 500 mile valve adjustment. Its also developed a new issue, which is honestlt pissing me off. Its strange, at around 40mph if I go from WOT down to say ¼ - ½ throttle, it feels like it seizes or tries to for just a split second. Clear fuel lines say its isn't starving out, so that leaves the needle, right? Well, the thinnest washer O have ( I was desperate, I even tried to use a piece of aluminum can cut into a small washer...) Is too rich, it bogs down off idle.
Not exactly sure what to do here, never seen this particular issue before. Of course the carbnis a junk sealed stock unit, the main is a 107 the idle jet isn't marked, the needle is but Ky eyes are too bad to read it.... Trying to talk the owner into buying a decent adjustable carb so I can at least try tune this shit away. Ugh....if I wasn't already half bald, I would be.by now.

Put on a new belt, changed the oil, the gear oil, put in the 12.5g sliders and rode around grinning like a fool.

Polished up my luggage rack. Decided to shoot a coat of aluminum paint on it. I'll give it a second coat this evening.

Fiddled with the Jonway 150 after work today. Tried a few more carb "adjustments" to no avail. Decided to tackle a problem that the owner didn't mention, but was pissing me off, and pulled the valve cover off. While it was off I noticed the timing marl on the flywheel was quite a ways off from actual TDC. Setting the flywheel at the "T" and the can with holes.level on the head would run, actually ran great, but after I adjusted the valves at true TDC it runs a little weaker (?mental f#$%k up?) But it doesn't seize and pulls to 7.5k rpm and 58MPH easily....

I was corrected about saying it's best to assume most 49cc scooters can go 30-35MPH regularly, but it varies, in a scoot info vid.
"This guy he's right and wrong, even tho you say not all but you kept basically bias about most 50 cc wont do 35 or will struggle, to go past 35 simply not true, yeah if you buy a pos nontop brand then yeah that's correct but a good brand will and can max up to 50 easily, i had a 2008 bashan VIP Limited edition 50 cc big body that ran 67-68 on level road"
I told him he should have checked into record attempts with land speed organizations if his stock 49cc went 67-68MPH on flat road. An awful lot of people would be disappointed if they listened to people like that guy and thought they'd see 50MPH easily with 49ccs or bought a Bashan thinking it was a top brand.

And yet another reminder to never underestimate the sheer stupidity of people. Should have asked him for video proof... Or if he actually believed that stock speedometer.
