I was corrected about saying it's best to assume most 49cc scooters can go 30-35MPH regularly, but it varies, in a scoot info vid. "This guy he's right and wrong, even tho you say not all but you kept basically bias about most 50 cc wont do 35 or will struggle, to go past 35 simply not true, yeah if you buy a pos nontop brand then yeah that's correct but a good brand will and can max up to 50 easily, i had a 2008 bashan VIP Limited edition 50 cc big body that ran 67-68 on level road" I told him he should have checked into record attempts with land speed organizations if his stock 49cc went 67-68MPH on flat road. An awful lot of people would be disappointed if they listened to people like that guy and thought they'd see 50MPH easily with 49ccs or bought a Bashan thinking it was a top brand. It's getting deep in here. I got a reply from him : "Myke Johnson 12 hours ago @90gtvert haha hehe watever, man please i had friends who including myself had mopeds we been doing this since the 80's man i aint no rookie theres so many things you can do to them to make them run faster i had a buddy who had a Pooch super 45 and it ran 45 mph with him and me on the back of it, strecthed cable , is all im going to say and that was back in 90-91 as some very young teenagers, in 09, when i brought the Bashan it was a 4 cycle engine i took the plug out and file it down real fine, took out the air filter, ran 93 octane, changed the oil and ran 10w-40w castrol synthetic in it ran up to 65 on flat road, then i put a motorcycle performance platinum plug in it then i got 2 more mph out of it, so there, just because you don"t know what to do with it, don"t mean others don"t" "And for your record a VIP that's well cared for will run 50 mph, in stock form, as the stock speedometer is rated to 50." He was so full of pro speed tips and experience that I hung my head in shame and only typed this reply before trudging off back to my pathetic and ill informed reality that's full of 35MPH stock Chinese 4Ts. "Like I said, you need to be in the record books." Anyway, make sure you guys write all of that down somewhere. File down your spark plugs, then replace them with platinum plugs, toss your air filters in the garbage can, use 93 octane, and 10W40 Castrol synthetic. That's all it takes for nearly 70MPH on an otherwise stock Chinese VIP 49cc. I expect to see a lot of 2Ts popping up on craigslist when the rest of the tuner crowd here gets wind of this. I think he missed his own pro-tip though. If a stock VIP runs 50 because the stock speedometer is rated to 50... just put a faster speedometer on and be done with it. I may just go recalibrate my TaoTao's Vapor so I can hit about 200MPH and sell my TMAX that's only half that fast.

Got a few things done today. Painted and mounted the new drive sprocket. Went with a different throttle cable. Stainless intake bolts. Drilled out the rear fender to mount the turn signals. I still have to connect up the new wiring harness, mount the rear wheel, mount the headlight shroud, then time the engine. Though I'm getting pretty close to having this CT back on the road. d12 game

Took a decent ride today then ended up downtown where the food truck rally is going on. Ate some overpriced food. Jalapeno perogies, polish sausage, poutine (good stuff!) and brisket meatballs, I dont think there was any brisket in the meat balls LOl! Big crowd and a decent band. Stomach kinda hurts now, hope I wake up tomorrow, so I can go back!

I took a good look at the front end, and the front axle is definitely bent...

Mounted the rear turn signals and sprayed the brake rod in a chrome paint. Installed shorter bolts in the peg bar.
Tomorrow I will try and hook up the new wiring.

Cleaned Stella's air filter. unmounted it, poured some mineral spirits in an old tin can and shook the snot outta the filter. pulled it out, shook it off as hard as I could and the element was blue and the stainless was shiny.
Lately I've had a really bad over-rich condition when trying to go WOT... and sputtering real bad when cold. Damn dirty air filter was choking her out. Now, coming back to work from cleaning it out at home on lunch, she SCREAMED! Rev'd way higher and had lots of more pull. Yay
