Yesterday I started taking Lucy's front end apart. The accident was three full months ago [ STORY HERE]; I've got 3 more months on blood thinners, so decided it was time to get to work. The axle was so bent I spent about 15 minutes pounding it out of the wheel... turns out that the wheel itself is also damaged which is what made it so difficult. (The "hub" area is twisted sideways a bit.) The right front fork/shock is bent. The triple tree has little piece broken off (one of the sort of little ears on the top). It was difficult to tell if the triple tree was otherwise mangled, but when I put the fork bolts back in for safekeeping, the left ones went in easily with fingers, the right ones went partway in then felt tight, so probably the triple tree has been compromised. Spent a lot of time looking at all the options for transitioning to a disk brake front end ($$$)...but instead dragged Lucy out of the back of the garage and put her up on the work table to get her back running. Yeah!

Glad to hear you're feeling well enough to get your hands dirty on the scoot. I know for me that it was a big deal to actually be able to turn wrenches again. Sucks dealing with the damage, but just the act of working on a scooter helped me mentally somehow.
Sounds like the front end is trashed. I'm used to Chinese scoots, but usually the steering stem will bend and seems to save a lot of the rest of the components. Heck of a hit to bend basically everything up front. As bad as it sounds, I'd probably want to replace about everything to be sure it was all good to go. If there's any one area that I do not ever want to fail on me, it's the front end.

Hey, PDub, Glad to hear that you're, at least, back in the tool box. Hopefully, you'll be back in the saddle before too long. I'm not much of a mechanic, but, we are Ann Arbor neighbors. Let me know if I can be of any help.

Yes, a friend came over, surveyed the damaged parts and said "looks like you hit a wall" -- I said yeah, I did, but it was only 8" tall (= the curb, scoot was on her side and slammed into it, as did my right shoulder). I will replace it all if I get her running again and decide to spend the $$$. Right now she'll be the parts scoot so I can get Rudy back up and running. Oh, and what I did today was take the rising sun leg shields off Lucy, the big windscreen, and emptied the underseat compartment. Wondering if I ought to empty the gas tank...but that might leave it liable to rust as it sits...

Sure enough, found someone at work to weld up the header pipe. Re-installed and went for a spin.

That looks well up to the job now. Plenty of weld on there 👍

took the S50 out for a nice ride, pegged the speedo on the closest to flat around here. Brought it home and tuned in the A/F screw and it runs very nice. Its back to being a loaner again but this time it spends the night in the garage where I know it's safe.

Went out for a 50 mile ride up the PA side of the Delaware River. Fuel economy come out to 45mpg. Tomorrow I’ll try to go further up but I’ll have to bring some extra fuel. It’s a scenic road with no gas stations.

I feel 45mpg is fair for a performance oriented scoot. I’ve had some builds that got as much as 60 mpg. I could probably lean this out and get a few more mpg but it’s not really worth it, it runs pretty good temperature wise as it is.

Simple solution to my fuel capacity dilemma, oil tank is now carrying an extra 1.5qt of fuel. The main tank, plus the oil tank and an extra container I can fit under the seat should give me 2.25 gallon capacity and just under 100 mile range. That makes me feel better for a longer trip.

Converting the unused oil tank on my blue Kymco to gas reserve has been on my to do list for a long time.

Went for a ride last night with a friend. She was on the S50 that she has already named, I don't get that naming thing, I was on the SR50. I thought I would be trying to keep up all evening but I think she isn't the speed demon I thought she was. We had a great ride around town and saw places that we each hadn't seen before.

You have already got more scooters than there are names. Unless you start naming them flower, tree ect.
