When I do stuff like that, I call it "A Senior Moment." That sounds better than a brain fart.

Fitted the new variator on the typhoon, to remove the restriction. Still as slow as a four stroke!😉 just will over rev down hills now. Will run it in. Then perhaps look at some more upgrades.

I WAS tuning wot. But i had taken to pulling the whole carb/intake assy off (by removing the two nuts on the intake manifold, rather than loosen the clamp to pull the carb) to swap jets. Well, i pinched the manifold oring. Part of it is missing, probably ingested, hopfully it made it out alright.
I knew it would happen, i just kept doing it. Oh well, pfs has them for 99 cents each. So i bought 5, and some more jets as i keep going richer and find im not still rich enough. I also bought some spark plugs for chopping, my really cheap ones wont be here til dec.

Took a ride today. It was really cold for here 45° but the feels like temp was under 35°. I wanted to see what it was like to ride in colder weather, today was probably my coldest ride ever. Not that I do much cold weather riding.
I wore a full face helmet, work jacket, long pants, tennis shoes, jersey gloves with blue nitrile gloves underneath. I still got pretty cold. The wind was blowing up my helmet freezing my chins, my feet got cold, and my hands were also a bit cold. I cut the ride a bit short and went back to Scootopia.

Nice easy part assembly of Violet on the fuel system side, tank, sender,a few rubbers and seat today from some other things I have worked on this week. It took me a while to remeber where the parts were sometimes but usually under my nose. Tomorrow will be fit the reed valve block airbox etc and if time start it up. So much easier fitting a tank without the oil tank on it. Pre mix nearly good to go

Opened the back door this morning to discover neighbors discussing damage done to my upstairs neighbor's car. Turns out a truck pulled up into the parking lot, turned around, and smashed the front of the car in the middle of the night. Fortunately the damage was all cosmetic, but still looks nasty. Now it is the hassle of ...
Pulled the scooter out, ran some fresh gas thru the carb. Discovered rear tire only had 5psi, Good idea to check air pressure, when it turns cold. I should check more often, but never think of it until the pipe is hot. Try that. Oil was ok.
I'm trying to restore the seat. Checked online for a way to get it clean. One suggestion was ammonia and water. Tried Windex, which is mild and contains ammonia. It worked very well. The next step is Maguiar's Vinyl Restorer. No, not willing to drop $100 for a new seat or cover. Windex was quite an improvement so far. All good.

Beautiful day here today, certainly one of the last for a while. After playing a round of golf with my father and friends, I took the 103cc out for a spin. I had a blast, stopped by a supply house where we hang out when things are slow and showed off a bit doing high speed passes. My old scooter riding buddy who has graduated to a Harley was there and took it for a spin. He got it to 62 but had to slow down because he thought a car was pulling out. The best I could do is 59, I need more room to get up to speed than he does. (he is about 175lbs lighter than me) As I headed back to Scootopia I saw 62.9 I think I felt something a little "off" just as I got back. I will have to take a closer look tomorrow.

Its nice to be able to give it wot sometimes but round here it don't happen that often unless I go out the area as its mostly single track and main roads all twisty with the danger of sheep or parked car's round the fast bends at time. Apparently the sheep outnumber the humans in Wales by two third's.At least we don't get deer in this part of Wales yet had enough of them in Hampshire when I was younger riding 40yr ago.

I just got my new-to-me 2002 TNG Venice 49cc running for the first time yesterday. Today, I installed my flushed out exhaust pipe, and reinstalled my front fairing, and headlight. I also rigged up my taillight since the plastics are super rough. And I fixed a leak at the fuel capacity sensor.
Then, I got really ambitious and moved the variator washer outside the pulley and went for a ride. Pegged the speedo at 40 mph. I’ll have to track gps next time.

My "What did you do this weekend" post...
Not today, but on Friday night I was able to install a new fuel petcock and a new stock airbox to find out my FILTER was the culprit of not allowing fuel flow. So, with good fuel flow I was able to get my ETON Matrix 50 running without any hesitation or bogging. Yay! Still no rear brakes, just a front brake with half a lever, so I just putted around my trailer park making sure everything is good to go.
Saturday I installed new front and rear racks on Sonja (no pictures yet, I'm lame). Excited to be able to carry more, I need to fab up a trailer hitch mount next...
Then, last night I was able to swap my Polini 177 top end on my Sonja's stock setup. No port matching, just plug-and-play, and yeah it's got a lot of power still! Not as much as with the port matched case but it gets on the pipe a LOT harder and pulls easier. No loss of low end power either, that's good.

Today I went for a 20 mile spin in the pouring rain test out the new waterproofs and jacket all good no water ingress and then over the garage and jet wash off all the road salt from the colder weather leave it to dry then later in week after mum's 90th birthday party and the bike has dried I shall be putting ACF50 on it.

hahaha I soft seized the Polini 177 AGAIN last night. Cruising at 56-58mph (still had more - had it to 63 at one point) and it was like someone hit the brakes. Clutch in, choke out, coasting for a while then popped the clutch and fired right up. Made it home fine. This was on a 112 main jet... upjetted from a 108 a few hours earlier.
This morning, headed out to work... got to 3rd gear and thought I was soft-seizing again! Pulled off to a side-road and no matter the gear, it was struggling to go and misfiring. Wait. Plug?? Pulled over, swapped plugs and all was well. Had all the power back. Made it to work. Plug was pretty black... but not covered in soot like I thought it'd be.
So, rich condition AND a soft seize... what am I doing wrong? Is the Polini piston just a wimp and can't stand constant RPMs and swells up?

Could be a clearance issue, but you said it had more in it when cruising so if it was not WOT then maybe the needle or needle setting needs a change. If you really go in circles with carb tuning on a 2T, then it may be time to do a leak test. Also make sure the fuel supply is good. You can lean out slowly if fuel flow is insufficient for some reason.
