Yesterday i tuned wot. Tried 5 different jets and went looking for max performance did a plug chop for the richest, best performing jet. And one for the first jet that lost top speed by being too lean. Today i cut the plugs open, Both plugs came out looking the same. I have a limited choices for suitable tuning roads now. I only had about a half mile of tuning road available before i started going downhill and overreving. Looks very lean. But its my fastest jet. I tried a whole spectrum, the leanest ran fine but was slightly slower. The richest ran fine, was slightly slower and smoked. Im about to test out different needle positions.

New variator came in on (last) monday, installed it on Tuesday, it snowed Wednesday and Thursday. So I spent all weekend trying to tune the roller weights.

Fastest always isn't the safest. That, I would say, is too lean. Too hot of combustion chamber temps and you're gonna melt your exhaust valve. Not literally, but it could burn up, or warp/crack your head. Lean is mean, and only for a short period.

I feel like a 30-40 second pull wasnt long enough for a plug chop. I gotta find a place i can do one without overreving, without getting killed by traffic, and where i can get to going for a longer period.

(sigh)Well I took my last ride of the season today. She"s loaded up with stabil ,I pulled the battery and stashed it inside( to prevent Frankenmech from coming to Fargo and slap me around while telling me the dangers of letting batteries freeze). I'm surprised I made it to November.

We expected a freeze this morning so I pulled the scooter out of the shed for the first time on almost 2 weeks. Strongly contemplated a ride. Maybe I contemplate to much?
It didn't want to start at first. I've taken to just giving it a few cranks on the kick starter just to make it easier on the battery. It started with a little persuasion. Let it run while I, again, "contemplated." Well just too tired.
Last ride was 2 Wed's ago. Really wanted to take off up Reynolda Rd.to the coffee shop at Reynolda Village. Dang! the gas was on "E" so I pulled into to BP and gassed up with some nice 93 ethanol rich good ole gas.
I needed some other stuff and went to the station to pick it up. The clerk gave me the look, you know? "Only $3 worth?" All he had to do is see the helmet in my hand and the bright yellow scooter at pump 5 out the big plate glass window. Made me wonder about "people." I'm not driving a semi.
I smiled and left with my goods, pumped, figured too dark to get coffee, and headed home. all good

Fixed Sonja's turn signals. Noticed they weren't all illuminating last night. Found a loose rear cowl keeping it from making contact and the front bulb that was out literally came out of the socket... weird. All good now. Safety third! Oh yeah, I also did some pretty rad wheelies on my way to work today, Sonja's loving these cooler mornings!

Swapped variators on lunch, from Polini to Naraku V.2. When I opened up the Polini variator the mythical "flipped slider" was there! How!? Oh well... swap over to the Naraku and took off back to work. Lost about 5mph dangit. I think my drive boss for the Naraku is slightly longer, and the Polini boss doesn't fit Naraku.
Gonna get home and put everything back to the way it was and see how the Polini works again without the flipped slider... it was feeling boggy as all get out this morning.

Took the TMAX for a short ride today. It's just been sitting there for the most part for the last couple of months while I messed with T2. Supposed to get cold tomorrow, so I might as well get it out of the garage for a minute.
A dump truck pulled out in front of 3 cars then me on the way home. He was way up there and 2 of the cars were right behind him. Then 1 SUV was directly in front of me. I went to pass the SUV to move up a spot because a lot of times people will just stay behind big trucks and won't pass and I get annoyed being stuck way back. I pulled out and the SUV ahead of me quickly swerved all the way into the shoulder, as if I were running him off of the road or something. No one was coming. He sped up while in the shoulder to the point that by the time I got around him I was right on the traffic ahead of us and had to immediately brake to get in because a hill was coming up and I couldn't see well enough to try to pass 2 more cars and a dump truck. Then he rode on my ass for about 2 minutes before backing way off. I wasn't even being stupid today, which is unusual.
I don't know why some people freak out so much about being passed. All you've gotta do is maintain your position and speed and it's not a big deal. Imagine these people riding a 49cc. They'd surely end up in a ditch on their first ride.

I don't know why some people freak out so much about being passed. This is the way I troll on auto's... hehe get a good rip past a car and "I can't let a scooter go faster than me" is what I imagine everyone thinks because EVERYONE speeds back past by me. When the 177cc kit was solid, I wouldn't let cars catch me...

So I did some inspecting this morning, I thought I hurt Sonja last night. WOT at 55mph and *sputter sputter muhhhhhhhhh* so I grab the clutch, pull the choke and she cuts off. Switch the tank to reserve just in case. I am still rolling, so I pop the clutch and she fires back up. I'm on my way home already, about 2 miles away and it seems like she just won't idle and she's very unresponsive at low RPMs. Wake up, pull plug, looks fine and has good spark. Pull the head off, piston looks fine, head looks fine... huh? Then I see the choke knob. I left the choke ON so it was running like crap all the way home. DOH! Look in the tank, she's almost empty. All I did was run outta gas and leave the choke on - led me to believe I hurt my reeds or a ring had an issue... nope. All good! Filled up on my way to work and she ran like normal.
