I'm in the process of getting a 50mm airsal bbk and I have my motor torn down right now. How would I be able to tell if my crank is bad?

cranks conrod vertical movement, if it moves sideways, it's okay.

50mm is a little rough on a stock crank, highest you can use is 72cc safely. i blew the crank on my taotao with a 50mm kit. scrappy dog has a nice heavy duty crank that will work great with it.

Mine is just moving up and down but not side to side is there any other way to tell while you have it apart? Thanks

If you are holding the crank still so it's not rotating and the conrod moves up and down on the pin, it's bad. There should be no play there. Side to side play is normal. With no play at all side to side the conrod should be stiff or hard to move. If it's hard to move or feels gritty or makes noise (and can't be cleaned out with brake cleaner and then re-oiling) then it's bad. There are specs and more info on checking in service manuals. See my signature for a link to manuals. Here's my old SunL engine after running a 50mm for 2,003 miles. www.youtube.com/watch?v=dslp5nkdGAQ
