I have a 100cc bbk 1500 contra and clutch springs, 4.5 sliders, Naraku transmission. When I let up on the throttle, I can feel the engine winding down like the clutch is still engaged. When I go under 2500 rpms so and let up on the throttle, my scooter coasts to a stop but doesn't when I go faster. It feels like the transmission is pulling it to a stop. Is this normal?

Mine releases at 5k with hard springs and the clutch adjusted to come in about the same.

should I put in 2k springs and maybe heavier weights?

1500 contra should be fine. You may want to try heavier clutch springs. What rpm does the clutch start to grab at.

I think around 2200. I just put in 2k so let's see. I confused about the whole gear thing. I want taller gears but there are the secondary and primary. Which should I replace? I found out that the reason I had a hard time starting it was the cdi box. Those blue racing ones screw the timing up. I would have to turn the throttle to start it but when I put in the stock, it turned right up. Also those red coil spark plug wires are not as good as the stock. I checked it on mine and the stock puts out brighter and more sparks. FYI

Do you have a tach? These things idle at 16-1800. If your clutch is engaging at 2200 with 1500 clutch springs then not only do you have a problem but I would think it would have a hard time moving.

yea it engages at 2800 but when I let up on the throttle, the clutch doesn't disengage or at least that is what I think is causing the problem. Does the clutch stay engaged until it hits a lower rpm? I have great take off

The springs will release at about the same rpm that they grab. I guess the clutch engagement is different on a 4t. They do make power lower so it makes sense I suppose.

Guess my previous post was wrong. I should stick to what I know.

Is this normal? sounds like engine braking from higher speeds? if that is what you are describing, perhaps a lighter contra spring would help to ease that. i have been told that the 1500, and especially 2000 contras cause quite a bit of engine braking, i have a 1000 contra and dont really have that issue. my clutch doesnt disengage though until i'm going i suppose about 5mph. i dont think the clutch will disengage up at speed, but there should be a way to tune the cvt so it will upshift/drop rpms at speed when you let off gas. i think the 1500 contra might be causing it to downshift.
