Hi Everyone, This is my first time using this forum. We've got a 2004 Vento Triton R4 scooter. The other day my son was riding it, and the lights went weird. Headlight quit, brake lights quit, rear signal lights stayed lit, front signal lights quit. Battery is brand new and charged. Small fuse on top of the battery tested good for continuity. I'm thinking worn out ignition switch not letting power through? I'd appreciate any suggestions where to start. Thanks Nick

Welcome aboard! Sorry I'm no help on electrical issues but someone will be able to help.

Welcome. Does it have an alarm on it? Not running and weird lighting issues sounds like an alarm gone bad

My Vento does have an alarm system on it though we've never used it. Here's what I have so far. Battery is brand new, just replaced, showing 13.5 volts. The electric starter works fine so I'm assuming that part of the ignition switch works, the starter button works, and the safety switch on the left brake works. When running above idle the battery connections show charging at 15 volts.
When running and testing at the headlight switch no power to any of the contacts to the headlight, bright or dim or the smaller running light so I'm assuming something is cutting off power to lighting circuits.
If I put on the turn signal both rear lights light at the same time but no lights to the front. Very strange.
I'm going to print out those wiring diagrams to see if I can find the alarm system and disable it to see if that brings things back to life.
Does anyone else have any ideas?
Thank you very much for your help so far!

The alarm will be under the left side rear plastic. You can unplug it. When I did mine it made it so the scoot would run when I turned the key off. Not a big deal since you have a shut off switch.

It's a plastic box with a fuse and a red round piece.

To disable did you just pull the fuse?

Ok, after some puttering, I've discovered a few things.
1) I don't have any power going to the front running light bulb. That used to come on when the engine was running without any switches to turn it on.
2) when I switch on headlights I have power to both low and high beam controlled by the switch but bulb is fried. I tested the ground for the headlight assembly by clipping my test light on the ground and touching the hi and low lead. Power to each as I moved switch. I also have lights that come on in the speedo and fuel guage when I turn on the headlight switch. Seems I have power to headlight system.
3)Dave, I pulled the fuse to disable my security system. Tested fuse for continuity. Fuse is good. I left fuse out and tried to see if engine turns off normally with key or kill switch or if other lights started to work again. Both my engine shutoff switch and key switch work for shutting off the engine. No luck with other lights working again. I tried the signal lights and again both back ones come on steady (no blinking) and nothing on the front signal lights.
Frustrating!!! Will try again tomorrow. Plan on checking front signal bulbs to see if they are getting power but burned out.
Not sure where to go after that.

After looking over the wiring diagrams, and reading about all of the problems people are having with Ventos burning out bulbs, and knowing that my charging system is properly charging the battery, I'm thinking of taking 12v DC from the battery, run it through a toggle "master" switch, and feeding my lighting system that way.
Anyone see any problems with that idea?

I unplugged and removed the alarm on mine. I don't know much about electrical systems so I can only tell you what I've done on mine. Hope you get it figured out.

Thanks again for the advice Dave, I found the alarm right away and unplugged the fuse. I might take mine off too!

Here's more info on the alarm. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/386/remove-alarmYou could try unplugging it totally and see if you regain functionality of turn signals. I don't expect it to do anything for the headlights. The headlights, running lamp, and tail light should all be powered by AC and only work with the engine running. The signals should work with just the key on. I'd prob try just turning the key on and see what they do. Then try the key on with the alarm unplugged. See if any of that gets you anywhere with the signals. I'm wondering if your regulator could be bad. If that goes bad sometimes it'll blow every bulb that's AC powered. When mine was popping bulbs from too much voltage, the headlight would get really bright at high RPM and then go out. Switch to the other beam and the same thing. If your son noticed that, it'd be a pretty good sign of a bad regulator. Might wanna see how much AC voltage you are getting at the headlights or headlight switch with the engine revved up. Should be something similar to what you're getting for battery charging. If it's much beyond 15V you'll probably need a new rectifier/regulator. More info that may be of use should you find replacement necessary. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/1795/chinese-1e40qmb-regulator-rectifier-wiring
