I'm new to the forum and I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction on a 49cc scooter problem i have? I just bought it (2008 Kinroad Handsome) used so I can park my gas hog car every chance I get. It cranked and ran good just no acceleration (think Flintstones) so i had a 100cc big bore put on it (dealer recommended) now the electric start won't work at all,no turning over no clicking noise, just silence. Any thought as to why? It worked before the install & It kick starts fine but i'd love to use electric start like I use to. The shop said it was a ghost in the wiring, I guess he means a short in the circuit if there is any advice you can give me or troubleshooting test i'd appreciate it so very much thanks.

I installed one of those kit too, and the original starter had no problem getting it to roar. Have you check the wiring your self? On those GY6, you can unplug the starter from the rest of the electrical system.
Find your starter, follow the wire, and you might find your solution. Otherwise the only other thing would be the starter wires or the starter itself.

Yup I would look for unconnected plugs etc. If it worked before bbk was installed. (Bbk installer fail!)

one day i was driving home and got caught in the rain and the next day i had to turn handle bars left or right and it would start when i mentioned it to the dealer he called it the ghost start. Now it does nothing at all,so has to be a short somewhere or something got wet that shouldn't have. Anyone have any tips on trouble shooting if i find it's not a loose wire? What are my next steps?

Time to check wiring in steer column area. ! Brake switch wiring/connections etc. Then go from there.

Probably a bad brake switch that is getting tugged by the wiring harness and opening up the continuity in the switch.
