Huh! And here I've been using soap and water! And that works okay.
But I'll bet that the alcohol dries quicker. The hair spray sounds like it's worth a try, too.

And a bump for me. I rode to work today. It was raining pretty badly when I went in. The roads were wet enough that I simply didn't know how hard to ride. It's a new bike to me. So I just don't know yet how hard I can push turns. So I rode it like a grandma and took back roads. It sure seems sure-footed on dry pavement. But when it's wet? Only experience will tell.
I do know that I would have felt more sure of myself on my motorized bike or my pedal bicycle. So I took the motorized bike out for a spin after I got home. Just to make sure it's up to snuff and can carry me on any upcoming rainy mornings.
The noise was just horrible compared to my Kymco People! It's going to take some real willpower to ride that that bike in the future.
I logged on tonight in order to start a thread asking for tire advice. I'm the sort who will ride in rough weather. I'm likely to want tires with a more aggressive tread than normal. So I'll go start that thread now.

I rode to work. And back.
But I could end up bumping this thread everyday. I rarely drive to work. Only when the weather is truly dangerous or I need to do some shopping that forces me onto four wheels.
I'm new to scooters and I imagine I won't be able to ride mine from mid-December through about March 1. But I'll be on a bicycle most days during that time.

I have plenty of respect for a guy who takes a stock machine and decides to do some creative engineering on it.
But I wouldn't dare to do it on my main ride. And I'd also do it with the understanding that I'm probably not going to improve on the factory in the 'overall' sense.
I did like the bike with the big, meaty tires on both ends, though. I kinda like having as much rubber on the road as possible.

Hmmm.....I feel a bit of regret over the lost Passport. Still, that Spree is pretty cool.
I'm still a newbie and no expert at all. But in the 50cc range, I can see the temptation toward a 2 cycle engine.

Now I have a question. Is there a trailer available that would be road legal for my Kymco?
It needn't be fancy. An open cargo trailer would be good enough for me.

Okay.....we got in a nice ride today. Here's a shot of my new bike. Used, but new to me. 6800 kilometers on it. Call it a bit less than 5000 miles. And my wife's bike.

Yes! The Stella is a real beauty. Excellent gift!
when riding Triumphs, in the pretty distant past now, I'd often embarrass myself by trying to shift into (the non-existent) fifth gear.
I'd be willing to bet that I'd have exactly the same trouble on a Stella. And I'd be oh-so-happy to find out!
Maybe one of these days I will.

Welcome aboard from another newbie.
Actually, I think you got in here ahead of me. But who's counting?

I think that dan50 above has it about right. I think, though, that the various states honor the laws of the home state voluntarily. I don't think that they actually must do it.
But I'm no expert. This is just the impression I've had.
And I'd be willing to bet that the various states make odd exceptions to what they'll honor and what they won't.
But as someone who's ridden and driven under questionable legal status before, my experience is that law enforcement will cut you some slack if they perceive you as someone who is being decent and courteous on the roads.

Awesome! Sounds like those 4 wheeled cages sitting in the driveway may gather a lot of dust. WELCOME! They do! My wife's car looks like a shaggy dog. (Parked under an oak tree. And it hasn't moved in a couple of weeks) When I started up my pickup truck this morning to go buy the Kymco I had to actually pull out my snowbrush and use it to wipe away all of the "droppings" from the tree that I park under. And there were bird droppings, too, on the windshield and hood, and so on. I used the washer fluid and wipers to clean it up enough to drive. But both my truck and her car are looking pretty ugly. It's a great, great thing! We've just gotten home. I had gone, a couple hours ago, to pick her up at work and escort her home on our scoots. We stopped and got a Big Mac. Then we stopped at the home of a couple who we are friends with in the neighborhood. Two beers --no more than that, I promise-- and we watched CNN and chatted. Nice way to spend an evening. And tomorrow is our 25th wedding anniversary and neither of us has to work. We'll be riding. You can bet on that. I'll snap a couple photos of the bikes and I'll post them here.

Thanks, folks!
I pulled the trigger and bought that Kymco today. Even though I'm a newbie, I can see that I got a lot of bike for a grand. Well.....1200 after title and registration.
I've put a few miles on it this afternoon. Now I'm getting ready to go on down to work and escort my wife home.
It's official; we're now both scooter people!
