Oh Boy- and that's the carb I've been wanting!! lol. I have faith in ya! I was feeling the same way about tuning this 24mm Mikuni TM carb. For the longest time I just couldn't seem to get it tuned right and even melted a piston resulting in me having to tear my engine all the way down and split the cases to clean it out... Months later now it's in great tune and I'm literally 50 jets sizes away from where I was running it! (I went all the way up to a 175 for a while and I think I've finally nailed it with a 120 main jet and needle next notch from leanest). I have read on the Honda forum that the fellas using that Polini CP dropped 20 jet sizes from what they were running in the Dells... Another weird thing I found while tuning this Mikuni TM is that my cylinder head temps were in the high 300's when I was jetted way rich, but now that I've dropped a bunch of jet sizes and got the tune pretty much nailed my temps dropped by 40 degrees. Jetted leaner and cylinder head temps dropped??? wth? Yeah- I was ready to smash it with a hammer too lol.

I haven't read this whole thread yet, so excuse me if you've already done this... Have you recently done a leak down test? Leaks will cause tuning nightmares.

I've also read that going too big of a carb will also cause tuning issues. but a 21mm shouldn't be that big of a problem. Im running a oko 18.5 advertised as 19. It sure is keeps the engine temperature down even at wot for 6 miles round trip.. soon as I got back home I quickly measured the cylinder temperature with a infrared thermometer the highest it read was 257F and the cyl head ~210F. Im using a 90mj with a ngk bpr8hs.

Ill have to build a leak down tester again as I lost it over the years. Its prolly leaking at the intake tho. Its the stage6 intake and reeds that have rubber o rings molded into them. Or the base gaskets/spacer. I should really just make a 2mm spacer for that to get rid of the double paper gaskets.
When I had my 19 China dell on here it used a 113 main with my buddies next r pipe. But I never got it tuned with that dell cause of a flooding issue that couldnt be fix. I should have just bought the 21mm dell carb to begin with.

Yeah, whenever you're having jetting issues that just wont clear up, it's best to do a leak down test. Hell, I do it every 6 months even if it doesn't need it. We spend too much of our hard earned money and time on these things to have them ruined by something so simple as air.

What happened there? Clip failure?

Small end bearing failure. Guess that's what I get for using one I got from a cheap piston kit. but in general is 13k to much for a 10mm pin? And what brand should I get stage6? New piston and gaskets plus im going to make the proper 2mm spacer.

How's the bottom end? Hopefully no shrapnel made it down into the cases.

nothing made it down there. im gona replace the crank seals as i think i put the var side seal in to far, plus i can really clean out the case better.
ordering a new piston kit. new gaskets. stage6 small end bearing. and crank seals. hopfully everything gets here on time before the races!!!
edit: its all ordered. i did overnight shipping as well. i really want to see what this does next weekend. im hoping for low 10s but i feel its gona beat that.
