ok, the weather here in indiana has taken a turn to FREEZING!
my ped has started a little problem and im not to sure what the answer to is is.
my scooter used to idle at 1200-1500 and take off at 2300-2800ish rpm. cruise at 35 (on the chinometer) at around 5k rpm and at 40+ (again on the chinometer) it goes to 6k+ rpm.
however in the last week, ive been idleing at around 900-1100, taking off around 1800, and cruising at 35 (chinometer again) at 2200-3000. which seems to be really low to me, but thats not the whole problem...
in crusing that low of a rpm, when i come to a stop, i have to really ease into the stop, or it will start to go lower tan 900 rpm and die, really quick, and it really hard to get it to go back up...
ive messed with the idle rpm screw and the a/f adjustment screw with no avail.
im going up to rural king right now to get new oil, and carb cleaner, and as soon as i get home, im going to clean the carb, change the oil, and reset my valves again. is there anything else that could be causein this?
thanks for your input.

Check that diaphragm in the carb. just finished with the valve adjustment. (.004 inch both), cleaned the carb inside and out, and am about to replace the oil (already drained all the old, just gotta put in the new). i came in while the moped was still apart to see if anybody replyed, so i will go check on the diaphram one more time to make sure, but it looked fine to me. about to go put it back together and see how she runs.

is the diaphram aloud to have bumps in it? the last time i looked (to my knowldge, it was very smooth, mine right now has little waves or bump around the inner edge, and there is no tears or rips in the plastic, so i assume its okay, just putting it out there that ive never seen it wavy?

ok i think my diaphram might be the issue, i cannot seem to get it to get back in the round groove that it is suppose to sit in? it seems to be too big and i always have extra that will make one side or another pop up....
is there a fix? or just get a new diaphram?
and do u happen to have an extra one for sale 2strokd?

When diaphragms don't want to stay in the groove I put the cap on leaving the screws loose. Then I hold the carb in one hand applying light pressure on the cap while working the diaphragm into the slot with a small flat screwdriver. Once confident the diaphragm is seated all the way around tighten the cap screws.

Did you pull both jets out and make sure they were completely clear when you cleaned the carb? Is the air filter very dirty? Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Check the condition of the spark plug and gap?

Check the condition of the spark plug and gap? I made sure i cleaned both jets yes, i used about half a can of carb cleaner cleaning every hole inside and out. the air filter is not dirty, but there does see to be some oily residue on the air box and on the tubing going to the carb. i have not checked extensively for a vaccum leak, just most of the vaccum lines i know. ill check the spark plug here soon and let u know what it looks like

Check the rubber elbow for any cracks.

On top of visual checks, you can check for vacuum leaks with an unlit propane torch or carb cleaner or wd40. When one of those is sprayed by a vacuum leak the idle should change. Move it away and the idle should go back to how it was if there is a leak. Obviously all of that stuff is flammable so use caution and don't spray any of thta stuff on the exhaust or very hot surfaces.

Brent, have you done that with WD40 recently? I used to use that for most everything, even as starting fluid because it had propane as a propellant, but it stopped working for that for me a long time ago. I'm just wondering if it still works for leak detection.

No, I haven't. I usually use carb cleaner or propane. I forgot that they changed the propellant to CO2.
