So I was perusing CL and came across this ad that pretty much insulted me and anyone else who does mobile repair work. losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/mcy/1983664205.html"FREE PRESSURE WASH OF YOUR GREASY ASS SCOOTER!" I get the motivation behind it but it's not a tactic I would have used... til now. I edited my ad to make myself look like the better choice. I mean two can play at that game right? losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/mcy/1982023336.htmlThe guy is way out in the valley and I rarely get any work out there so I'm really not too concerned with it. I just don't like the way he acts so superior when he has no clue of who I am or how skilled I am.

I'm not a fan of the dirty tactics either. There's just no need for it. A good shop or good solo mechanic or whatever can make a name for themself without resorting to mudslinging campaigns. Save that for the politicians.

I used to have a local BNM shop post their CL ad right above mine every time i listed. lol, whatever dude i what i said. Ended up playin their game for a few and won! They still have and run a good shop from what i hear. I wouldnt mind "teaming up" and sharing bizz rather than struggle over it.

Times are tough all over. Face it, if a guy spends $800.00 or less on a 50cc scooter, he does not want to spend $200.00 getting it fixed. My money is on the independent mechanic getting the job. Shops rates have to be higher, and often times pumped up by finding problems to fix, that may be just fixing a revenue problem.
At the cost of an oil change, might be a good marketing tool to advertise a free oil change with each repair over $75.00 or so.
