:welcome:
That's... special. The wierd part is that they seemed to just copy the whole page with the links to me and everything on the left menu. My URL is all over it from the menu and every image being watermarked. It's kinda shady that they won't just link to me, but on the other hand it could still give me traffic. Then again, they could give me traffic by just linking to me. lol I'm guessing maybe they are afraid the page will go down and then they won't have a manual? I dunno.
Thanks for pointing that one out to me. Not really sure if it's worth any action. I could ask 'em to just link to my page... but then if they refuse I dunno where it'd go. It really doesn't seem worht a lot of trouble to me since they aren't trying to take credit for it or keep folks from visiting. What do you guys and gals think?

I kind of think it could bring traffic and they seem upfront about it not being theirs. If they link to you with something like your logo it could be seen as you giving them credibility and you probably don't want that.
So i guess my vote is that it is a good thing. I think?
Either way, props for the shoutout for your good work!

thas funny... I have a page up doing an installation-non scooter related. All of a sudden I noted the hit count was going thru the roof. Followed it to an Ebay seller that included link to my page as an installation guide .Hmmm... I figured if it helps folks figure out if they can do it I guess its ok...but then again I dont know the seller or product so I put a small note top of my page stating just that. But the real funny part is I quite prominatley was linking to another retailer which was what puzzled me why Ebay seller would link to my page... As to the kit, I've seen this at scooterpartsmania and other sites, same 100cc kit also an 80cc kit. Though couple of options as to what actually fits (valve size ,69 vs 64mm?) Bolt on... no 'machinating' required, what. Will that actually (53.22) fit in the case I noted your side bar is still there so folks COULD still navigate. Dont think its a bad thing unless the kits are junk and your associated ?

My main problem with the info being spread from me is that no one knows who I am or where to find me most of the time. This one isn't a big deal, but the copy and paste with edits to take me out and stuff like that bug me. Please don't mistake that for me wanting to be anything special, I'm the first one to tell you I'm just some dude that likes scoots... but if my info is reposted and no one gives me or the forum any credit no one is gonna come visit us. They think the copy cat is a good source of info instead and hang around their place.
I started writing a book a while back after hearing that I should write one from numerous people. I got a few pages in and needed some illustrations for the workings of 2T and 4T engines. Tried to draw some out for about a week and was never happy with 'em. Ticked me off and I quit. I need to get back on that though. It may never be anything good, but at very least it would be more stuff to stick in the tech library.

I get your point there. I believe credit is due! You deserve it and it just plain ole a matter of respect!
That being said, the link to the site is ok, no? Im not asking because im responsible but what if i did use a link to the forum for something like that? Would that be ok with you Brent? Of course i would ask first and post a copy of it all. Just curious my friend... Keep up the great work! I tell so many people this is were its at!

I don't mind people linking to the site or forum. That's a good thing! That's just more folks headed our way that may decide to join up! Now if someone decided to link to every article separately or something like that it would not be a good thing. Then their directory makes mine useless to users of their site, if you get what I'm saying.
Thanks for spreading the word and sending folks over! ;D I've told local people about the site too, but it seems like you'd have to force them at gunpoint to get on here or something. I had someone asking me questions and I told them "go here and there are pics, step by step info, and even vids on the stuff you are asking me about." Then they say, "but how do you do it." "Seriously, go on the site I gave you and look in the tech section. I promise you the pics and info there will explain it better than I ever could standing here just talking." "But, just tell me..." I WISH every time I asked someone how to do something they told me where to get step by step instructions with pics. lol

Take it as a compliment, here is a quote from their ad;
"The best installation guide we've found so far while we are in the process of making our own guide is located HERE"
and the HERE is a link to your very good guide. I doubt they will really make their own guide.

They left your watermark, it's a good thing. If the folks that see that like the way you did the guide, they will come here for more. It would be nice to have it linked to the original though. I say watch their feedback and if it goes south ask them to ad something stating the guide and 49ccScoot.com are not affiliated with them. So what kind of illustrations are you trying to do for the book that pictures can't show? Like the blow outs of parts?

Sounds like we are agreed that the ebay link is a good thing, for now at least. Thank you all for your input.
I was trying to do kind of a cutaway so you can see inside the engine to see valves or ports or whatever and illustrate the events that occur in 2 and 4 stroke engines. The illustrations in my guide to 2 strokes are from somewhere else. I hate using them online. Just as I don;t like people taking credit for my stuff, I don't wanna do it to someone else. The prob is I have no idea who to give credit to or to ask permission from to use those pics. At any rate, I couldn't be using someone else's stuff in a book for sure. I might be able to get something done, but the more I screw it up the angrier I get and then I have no patience to make a good effort. :censored:

Like anything else, sometimes you need to step back and do something else for a bit. It'll come to you another time. LOL, unless you just are not into drawing, in which case you look for someone who is that can work with you. You have a good start on the photos though. I know I love the Haynes manuals for the pictures, and simple instruction. You can do that.

Thanks for the vot e of confidence. I think part of what bugs me is that I used to draw a lot and be decent. Not great, but I could do a few cool things. I have a friend that is a good artist, but I'm not sure if he would do something this style. For tech illustrations it needs to be clean and smooth and he does a lot of dark, busy, stuff with lots of detail. Maybe I'll talk to him about it, dunno if it'll get anywhere since I'm not looking to pay an illustrator. lol
