Ok so to even get access to the stub remaining of the stud I have to get the other bolt off.
Problem is, the other bolt is some crazy looking star thing. I counted, it has 7 points so it's not torx. Any idea on how to remove it?
And also, once I do remove it: Can I just replace it with a normal stud like the other one?

Take a pair of vice grips get a good hold on it and get er off there if you don't have access to the star wrench They sell those at h.f I'm pretty sure maybe $10 or so!!!

I looked everywhere and even at HF all I could find was torx security drivers. to be clear: these are NOT torx, torx have 6 sided stars these have 7. Yeah I'll try that with the vice grips when I get me a pair.

The only 7 point stuff I know of are security lug nuts, 7 spline, but those sockets should be way larger than what's on your scoot. Try vise grips first and if you can get it out ditch that for a regular bolt or stud.

I'm talking about the exhaust bolt. It looks like 7 point star to me but it may come off with a torx: I don't have a torx that size, only one that is too big to fit in it and a bunch of jeweler ones.

This may sound crazy, but I've removed bolts/screws like this before using a flat head bit and a hammer. Knock the bit into it hard enough to get a good grip and it should hold. It works best if you have a flat head bit for a ratchet, though I wouldn't use an impact though. It's worth a shot if you have the time and patience. Like I said though, hammer the bit in (hopefully without damaging the bit or just buy one you don't mind if it breaks). If that fails, then vice grips and a small hammer to tap it loose then it should be fine.
Like I said, this is unconventional as hell but it's the best method I've used short of using an extractor set.

Hey guys if all of the above does not work I am going to try to use a dremel to carve out a flat notch in the screw and or stud so I can use a flathead to dig it out.
I am concerned that possibly there may be gasoline vapors and while using a dremel to cut into the screw/stud a spark may ignite the vapor? Am I just being paranoid/what should I do? I'd like to work on this while its still in the scoot because taking the engine out would be a huge pain for me.

Id think you would be able to get a vice grips on there to break it loose. Wouldn't worry about the vapor issue.

Id think you would be able to get a vice grips on there to break it loose. Wouldn't worry about the vapor issue. I got the screw out with vice grips, but the stud doesn't want to come out. I've tried all kinds of locking pliers but it won't budge. I've got an idea, or rather 2: 1st is to take a nut and loctite it to the stud as it still has like 2 or 3 threads left on it. Then try to undo the nut and hopefully get the stud out. Not sure how strong loctite is or if this would work. 2nd seems more viable: I take a reverse threaded nut and screw it onto the stud untill it hits the opening of the stud. This should then allow the stud to back out while I turn the nut against the opening (?) worth a shot.

Solved. Went to ace, had left hand nuts, but no metric sizes. Then I realized I had no loctite so I tried my final option and it worked. Moved my bike to the driveway and set up a fan to get rid of any gas vapors if there were any. Used my 80 piece dremel kit I got from HF for $8 and boom: And out she goes: Perfect fit for a replacement, thanks Ace. And here they are installed: Now I just have to find the damn nuts and washers for the mounting bracket, I wonder where I put those.

So I put the pipe back on and bought a brand new spark plug to put in it. It still does have issues though. Not to the same extent but after its started it will die at idle throttle and be very rough and jerky up till about 6k RPM then its fine.
I'm starting to think its the oil just not liking the scoot. Feel like getting a whole new bottle and trying something else. I really don't understand. There is a LOT of smoke coming out when its idling and when I rev it on the stand. like very thick white smoke coming out.
I guess I'll try spraying brake cleaner fluid into the carb while its on the stand before I get new oil but really that's all I have left. I can't think of anything that would make it act like this over just switching oils used in the gas.
