OK then i will do some more research here in Japan and see what they have. Too bad that they don't have much info when looking at the products details. Like Material, Roller size, Angle of the pulley surface...and so on. Something else....i don't know about Yamaha in the US or UK but here in Japan we have a absolute AWESOME parts checking system. I took screenshots... This is the overview area after you selected your bike/scooter model by entering the frame number or just search by name and year. As you can see you have all diagrams for any area of the bike/scooter. when you chose the area you want to check (in the below image is the Variator/Clutch area) you can choose on the right hand the item and it will be highlighted on the diagram. Then double click the item you want to look up and then click on the button "left" of the trash box and it will load the current price and if it is in stock or not. Fantastic isn't it? Maybe this is known already and I am just a late starter...but i was amazed and just wanted to share it here.

Received and added my new spacer to the Vario to get the belt a bit closer to the boss. Stock was, Boss (36 to 36.3mm) + 1mm spacer. Now I added one more 1mm spacer that makes a total of 38-38.3mm. The belt is still 3-4mm above the boss but the closest I ever was so far. The takeoff acceleration is awesome! The only thing that worries me a bit is the nut(17mm) that holds the Vario together. Before adding the washer the thread of the crank was a bit inside or at least even high as the nut now it is about 30-40% inset. I am not sure I used the right words to explain so please look at the following images. I tighten everything strongly, did some test driving and double checked again and it was OK but don't know if it will hold after few days driving. As I remember the Forum Maestro (90GTVert) removed his starter thing behind the Vario. Is that recommended to do if yes what about the alignment between the rear clutch and Vario? Removing the starter stuff would make the Vario drop a bit more behind, right?

Not having all the threads in the vari nut in contact is not ideal, but I think it'll be fine (IMO). Yes removing the starter clutch components will get you more room on the shaft. It's up to personal preferance if you can live without e-start or not. (I have kick-start only but my scoot always starts on first kick so it's not too much wear and tear.) You could shave the faces of the vari and get your belt to drop more. Might even be enough so that you could eliminate a spacer or two and get your vari nut all the way back on... Good luck! Looks like you're doing great!

Hi niz76 Thanks again for your help. Where would I be without you and the other guys. What do you mean with shave the faces? How? I will try to remove the Starter Stuff over the weekend and see how it goes from there. There are many Japanese brands or parts maker that are not known to other countries. Kitaco is one of them, very popular here in Japan. The thing is those guys have rarely a website in English so it's kinda hard to browse. The Kitaco belt was about 3500Yen which is around $35 and the stock Yamaha belt is $32 so not much difference so I went with that one. So far doing a great job. Some popular parts makers here in Japan are... Kitaco www.kitaco.co.jp/KN企画 www.kn926.net/Daytona www.daytona.co.jp/B-Moon Factory b-moon-factory.com/item.php

90gtvert has had detailed info on shaving the faces in some of his threads. Not sure which ones but check his t1 and t2 builds as well as project 49 and project 90. Might also be in the tech section in sure he will chime in with more info

Now that i have a tacho installed i could finally fine tune the CVT. I am currently still running with only one additional spacer as mentioned before. And with 3x6g, 3x5g rollers i had a good takeoff but once drove over 50km/h i had over 8500rpm which was too high. So i went back to the 3x6g,3x5,5g setting and since then i am confronted with a new issue, which is not a really bad one...i have trouble to keep the front wheel on the ground when taking off. Need to be gentle with the throttle i guess. Now my avarage rpm at top speeds is 8500 - 9200 rpm. I am very satisfied with my current setting so this case can be "closed". A BIG thank you to all YOU guys out there. Next project ->> painting!

Hi guys
It seems like my acceleration problem is back. After i changed the torque spring and adjusted my roller weights i had a decent performance. Since two days now my scooter lost it's starting power and when i pull full throttle i have a drop of 1000rpms (from 7000 to 6000) between 20km/h and 35km/h then it revs up again.
I am a bit confused since everything was just fine till 2 days ago. The only thing that is different in this two days then any other day is the rain. Could the weather have such an impact and drop the scooters performance?

I have no clue what's going on but today on the way back home the scooter drove more or less fine as it did before. I didn't do anything since morning. I went to the bike shop and removed the spark plug to see if i run lean or rich. Here is the image: It looks to me like i am running a bit lean but still in the OK zone, right? I should get my OR Variator in the next few days and i hope that this will solve the issue. Or it really was just the weather, humidity? If i run lean is it smart to change the main jet? My current one is the stock 68 main jet should i go up to a 70 main jet? Or should i just close the filter hole a bit?

The 68 is really small- as small of a jet as I would ever run- I would jump up to 70 at least! Let us know how you like that OR!

Some bikes have a really small carb that can require a smaller jet or an airbox with a smaller snorkel that can require a smaller jet than normal. Just a thought Sent from my SPH-L720 using proboards
