LED Tail Light Options

The tail/brake light on the Venus has been acting up, in the same way I see lots of Chinese scooter tail/brake lights falter. The socket is getting loose and the bulb can move around a little. Vibration and bumbs can cause the tail light to stop working pretty easily at this point. That's not really safe for anyone, but I ride mostly at night lately so I really need something reliable. I've replaced the socket with an automotive 1157 socket in the SunL with OK results. That worked great for a bit, but it's having a problem here or there now too. I have been much happer with the LEDs I put on T2, and would like to use LEDs here.

I found something that I like, but I'm afraid it may be a little small. I can't find anywhere showing exact measurements of the actual lights, but the whole assembly is just over 3" wide, so I'd have to guess these are 1 - 1 1/4" lights. Not really big enough to make me feel safe.

If I could find a couple of 2 to 2 1/2" dual intensity LED lights, I might be able to make something reasonably similar (minus the built in turn signals) at a more acceptable size. The problem is, I can't find any. I can find big 4"+ truck lights that are dual intensity, and 2 or 2 1/2" marker lights that are single intensity. I did find some bullet style lights that would work, but they were more than I would like to spend. I'm hoping to find complete housings, not LED arrays and then buy separate housings. If anyone knows a source for something like this, please share. If you have any other ideas that you think would look cool for cheap (LED only), I'm open to suggestions.

This could be kinda cool, not sure. Might be kinda big though at 7 5/8" x 3 1/2" x 3 3/4" (Width x Height x Depth). I cehcked and my stocker is 3 1/2"W and 2 1/2" tall. The width would probably make this look monstrous on the little scoot.

But the small ones you first put up would probably be so bright they would make up for their small size.

Not sure if I like 'em or not with the cateye shape, but not bad. If you look at the lighted images on the page below, they look pretty weak other than the turn signals. Thanks for the suggestion.

That's not bad either Tim. The problem is, I've always loved dual round tails on bikes. Never had 'em on any of mine though. Now I'm kinda stuck on the idea. I just don't wanna sacrifice a whole lot of safety for looks. Here's the original ones I liked with a gif showing them lit. It's so hard to tell how bright stuff is by pics sometimes, but I do notice the tail and brake lights of that one lighting up the surrounding area more.

Yup i like that 2 light look as well. I always planed to do that on the Triton and just never go to it.

That animation at the bottom looks pretty bright but could be all in the camera...

The way the bracket is you can increase/decrease the bend in it if needed depending on how high you mount it so the lights point straight back.

They're probably in every scooter and motorcylce shop in the right areas over there. lol

I ordered the one from the auction in the first post. After using an eBay Bucks certificate I had, it cost $28 shipped express.

Looking at the close-ups it looks like the cushion is just foam sponge material. Might wanna make something out of solid rubber that will last longer. I can't remember if you have to register that thing in Maryland but if you don't you could chop off both sides that hold the license plate for an even cleaner look.

What are you going to do on the rear fenders where the existing blinkers are?
