I thought it would be cool to have an ongoing thread where we can showcase our newest toys. I got a new, new Heli a few days ago. It was on sale for $120 It has all the same controls as a real heli so it's really hard to fly. www.hobbypeople.net/index.php/hobby-people-mystery-ep-heli-rtf-ccpm-w-2-4g-radio.html#I had a minor wreck today. Came down hard and the main rotor hit the tail boom where the fin is. Ended up with a bent tail boom, it bent the two little struts under the tail boom, broke the little fin and the mount for it and a busted main rotor blade. Cost me $40 for parts. I'm thinking about selling it for a hundred cause I can see it becoming a money pit unless I can learn to fly it longer than 10 minutes without wrecking it.

Yeah that's a nice one all right. Just a bit outside my price range however. These rich guys like to stunt those gas powered ones over water. I guess water is more forgiving than solid ground and I assume the electronics are fairly water resistant or that could get real expen$ive.

Those are nice! And addicting, from what i here....Never flown one. The cheapest R/C i have found is my rock crawler. Ive been into R/C all my life and all of em are money pits! My friend Mike has a heli like those for sale. Says he has 4grand in it and has only flew it once. I have about $300-400 in my crawler including the price of the truck. When i built it there wasnt a market in R/C crawlers (just started) and you couldnt really just go but one RTR (ready to run) unless you bought someone else rig. So i bought an HPI Wheely King and modded the hell out of it until i got what i wanted. It took me allot of doing but it crawls pretty good! All built within comp specs if i ever want to compete with it. When i built it i wasnt thinking about the nickle and dime thing. It did turn out to be pretty tuff tough! I havent put one penny into it since finished. I take that back, one axle and a spur gear! Ya see, its so slow it really dosnt beat itself up to bad. Gear reduced BIG time for crawling! I run a 55turn lathe motor in it. Top speed is just a tad over my walking speed now. But its got all the torque in the world! Custom built relocated steering. Flipped the frame around backwards to put the weight in the front... You cant hold it back or it will brake the weak link for sure! I use it to pull stuff and impress people if the crawling wont work. Im gonna get it out today now, after typing about it i wanna play! Here it is.... Wish i had a stock one to compare it to for you all . Like night and day! They wont even come close to crawling anything stock. They do like wheelies tho

Very nice. I can't find any pics of my old RCs. I've sold 'em all now. I liked them, but they weren't worth the money to me anymore. I guess now my toys would be my guitars and my Xbox 360 and 60" TV. I never spend money on my guitar stuff anymore, just play and wati as long as I can to restring 'em to save money. The TV was expensive, but I use it as a second monitor for my PC, to watch TV/DVD, and for the Xbox and I hope it's gonna last a long time. I got it right before I broke my hand last year, so I got my money's worth watching movies for a bit. Kinda sucks for online play on the Xbox because it's so big (I sit 6-8ft away) that I have to look around the screen to see who's shooting at me. lol Games for the Xbox are $60 new, so I only buy games that I think I'm gonna play for a long time. Right now I own : Call of Duty : Modern Warfare (3 years) Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2 (1 year) Borderlands (1 year) I'll be getting the next Call of Duty : Black Ops next month, but I'm confident it'll be played for a long time as well. I get a lot of use out of the games for $100-160 a year (Xbox live is about $40/yr + 1 or 2 games). I play 2-4 nights a week for a few hours depending how long my friends are online (yeah, I'm a dork lol).

I was gonna wait longer, but since I wanted a big one and DLP isn't that popular, I just didn't think the prices would drop much. You could spend as much on the new 32-40" as I did on this thing. The room is all black (walls, carpet, ceiling, most of the furniture, the windows are tinted, and I have blinds, and curtains) so DLP being mre sensitive to light rooms didn't worry me too much lol. I waited a few years, but my old TV is kinda blurry and I couldn't read the text in newer games so that was urging me along as well. The other bright side... now I have a 50" TV in the garage so I can watch the races if I wanna work on something while they're on. A friend of mine does that stuff for a living and he ran cable out there from the house for free for working on his scooter and helping with his motorcycle! ;D You'd have to pry my TV away from me, but you can come over and watch scooter racing vids if you want. ;D

Well I guess my "toy" (other than my scoot) would have to be the computer where I record all the racing series that I collect and watch. They would include: 3 classes of MotoGP, 2 classes of World Super BIke, 2 classes of AMA Super Bike, Every Formula 1 broadcast including the Speed TV "debrief" shows, F1GP2, Australian SuperCar series, US Grand Am (Rolex and Continental), Indy Car when i can find it on line somewhere, American LeMans and any 24 hour endurance race I can find. 400+ Gig this year alone... Brent if you need more races to watch in your garage I can probably keep you busy for a while. LOL

Nice rig. The parts and Repsol bike are nice touches. ;D No love for NASCAR, huh Tim? I know, I know... I'm a redneck. Damn, so far we've concluded that I'm a redneck and a dork in just this one thread. Oh no, they're on to me.

I can't blame you. I used to say it was stupid and boring and only wanted to watch the road coarses. Even though the ovals and tri-ovals don't look exciting at first, it's gotta be a crazy ride to spend hours at speeds around 200MPH with cars inches away from you. I am interested to see how it plays out when they finally catch up to the 1980s and start testing fuel injection in 2011.
