My tao tao 50 started and warmed up well but would not take gas, messed with thecoil wire both ends, and she ran good, will not do anything till the new coil gets here, does that sound like a bad coil or something else getting ready to happen?

Sounds like perhaps the wire is worn. These generally use a stranded copper core plug wire. You can unscrew the cap and unscrew the coil. I sometimes cut 1/4-1/2" off and then screw them back on to be sure I've got good contact. You can check resistance across the wire. Should be basically 0 on this type of wire. Could be another issue though. Coil going bad, stator/pickup issue, CDI, fouled or improperly gapped plug but wiggling the wire makes it seem like a connection issue.
