Well against a few members recommendations I decided to try the hoca turbofan because my stock fan just isn't cuttin it the air that is. I could smell the heat coming off my bike after easy and hard riding and you can just feel the extra heat. I gave it hell this weekend and decided I really needed to put the fan I purchased on. I wanted to try the 90cc Polaris fan but I wasn't confident id have the extra room under my shroud and I'm glad I didn't. This turbofan just barely cleared and I mean barely. It sucks a ton more air at idle and as the rpms go up so does the airflow.
Its about half the weight of the stock fan and has fins that are about twice the size but has less fins than the stock one. My engine actually revs easier with this one and you can really feel the extra air coming out of the shroud so I'm pretty happy. My plug stopped having the slight lighter color on the electrode due to heat. It also sounds like a supercharger at lower rpms so I get some funny looks when I'm doing a wheelie across the intersection so that's an added bonus. Im sure the Polaris fan will move some more air than this one but with the extra drag from weight it might actually be a worse fan. So anybody thinking about one of these its worth every penny for 13 bux and piece of mind. Will put up some pictures later today.

I have a couple of them and haven't had any issues. Can't say I noticed a performance increase but it moves more air.

It was a minute difference and due to the over range and 1500 rpm clutch springs it made it more apparent for me. Kind of like the weight difference on my crank when i ditched the electric start. You can hear and feel how much quicker it free revs because my cvt doesn't engage until 5k and doesn't lock till 8100 rpms. It revs almost as quick and sounds similar to the crotch rockets that wake you up at 3 am that just keep revving in neutral for no reason. The throttle is a hair more snappy but not much. Your not going to win a race because of the fan but when weight on the bike aka me and the bike is as light as mine you can feel and see from the Speedo small changes in weight.

I don't doubt there is a gain. I've had one on my now for sometime and through a couple builds. It was a part of some other mods so I can't differentiate the gains between them. Same thing with my OR, crank, longer rod, case work and different top end. I wish I could say this did this but it was a complete build and I can only compare it to the motor that's on the shelf now.

The easiest way to know it did is have an old engine and get rid of the belt driven fan they had for a clutch fan or electric fan. That used to be good for over 20hp in some cases with the really bad ones. This probably amounted to maybe .2-.5 hp but with a 50cc top end every little bit counts. Too bad I couldn't afford the engine your talking about. I bet it would be a blast to commute with.

Hmm, adding another item to my list now... Its deff a worthwhile investment. For like 15-18 bux shipped its better than most of the crap parts of the same price. The pvc air scoops and a can of spray paint at the same time wont do any harm either.

The pvc air scoops and a can of spray paint at the same time wont do any harm either. Well they come in different colors and red would probably be my choice. So no spray paint needed. I know that when I do get the BBK on there, I'm going to want better cooling. I was thinking of buying a new shroud for it too, the one on there is kind of beat up really. I also am thinking of putting the oil injection back. Keeping a can of gas around for mixing is a pain compared to just keeping the oil around, plus if I mix wrong, it throws my jetting off. I still have the oil tank, I just need the tubing which isn't a big deal really.
