Well I never rode a scooter before until recently and LOVE it so I went from a 1985 Hoda Spree to a newer one.. ::Yes still have the spree and it is in MINT condition!:: BUT Having problems with it. It starts and the idle is high but eventually dies down and dies completely. Then when you try to restart it you have to hold the throttle down just to keep it running but it sputters and dies if you let go. SO I tried new plugs, and cleaning the carb and I made sure gas was getting to the carb. AND a new plug... Still nothing Im stumped! SO I took it to a dealer and they even cleaned the carb adjusted it.. so it started right up and idle fine. I took off had a slugish take it.. it finnaly got up to speed rode it around the block and then it slowley lost power and came to stop with the throttle all the way down and i let go of the throttle and it died... now it won't start at all... It is a 2009 and It was made in China so any suggestions?

:welcome:
Could still be carb/fuel related. I would suggest checking over all of your fuel and vacuum lines and replacing them if necessary. Replace the fuel filter. If fuel lines start going bad little chunks can end up in the filter, lines, and carb. If that stuff is bad, you can clean the carb over and over again and crud will just keep getting back in there.
A valve adjustment wouldn't be a bad idea either.

When I read your post on Scooter Forum, I didn't catch the last line, or it didn't register with me, I thought you were asking about a newer Honda Spree, not a GY6 scooter. I got to get new glasses.

Trace the fuel line from the carb and you should find a filter inline.

Install one between the fuel tank and the carb. That could be part of the problem if debris is getting into the carb. It won't fix this problem, but it needs to be done.

lol I wish I had a newer honda maybe it would run :-D and btw where is the fuel filter?? But think of all the fun you are going to have learning how to fix your Chinese scooter. Honestly though it can be a pretty good ride. I have a question and some suggestions. Did you buy it from a brick and mortar dealer in your town, or on the internet. A good prep on these things makes all the difference on how they treat you. If you got it off the internet it is best if you do this to it. 1) drain all the fluids and replace with high quality American fluids. These things come with shipping fluids oil, brake fluid, gear oil, not good stuff. 2) check all electrical connection and make sure they are tight, coat with dielectric grease, keeps them from corroding. 3) replace all rubber fuel/vacuum lines with a good quality American one. 4) install a good fuel filter 5) replace the valve stems on the wheels, these are often times made from low quality rubber. 6) check all screws, nuts and bolts. Put some lock-tite on the threads, install lock washers. More than one person has had an important bolt fall off and cause damage to the scooter. Inspect them frequently. 7) consider replacing the fuses, another often times low quality item. 8) remember, it is a Honda design and can be pretty reliable if taken care of. 9) one last thing, you have to draw a line someplace, but I have heard some people complain that they found bits of plastic in the fuel tank. So draining it and checking is not unreasonable.

Wellll I got fed up with it and took it to the shop... They said I need a new crank case SO I guess the motor is shot I can get it to run until it warms up then dies.. They said I can buy a new scooter for the price to replace it... So what should I do? I don't even know what kind of motor is in the thing..

I think you should get rid of it and get something else a little newer. It's 25 years old for crying out loud! There's guys out there that need parts for those who'll buy it. You can probably get a few hundred for it. Maybe. Put it on CL for $350 OBO. Word it like this guy: inlandempire.craigslist.org/mcy/1994243665.html "It starts but needs work" Brilliant!

OH, I guess I should read more carefully. oops!
Take a picture of the scooter and post it. If it's Chinese, I'm not sure how a new crank case is going to change anything. Maybe you should get a second opinion. Where are you?

Louisville KY here is the thing... I drive it around the block I guess it warms up then looses power and dies.... Then when it cools down it's fine?? They said someone got into the crank case with a hammer or something at the scooter store trying to fix it.. I stopped paying attention when they told me 500 for them to fix it... And it's a Zhejiang Taizhou Wangye...

I agree with Fox, that sounds like a classic case of a too tight valve.
