Im from North Central Missouri, And I just did some bartering for a 2004 49cc viaggio rx8 scooter Its been laid over once and from what I can figure out it needs a petcock valve as the air line has gas getting in it. Any info on thit would be great.

Welcome. You've got a good scoot there with lots of potential. You can replace the petcock with a stock unit or convert it to a gravity fed system with a manual shut off. There is info in the tech library on switching over. I held out on switching mine over until recently when the petcock started leaking. It's a part that fails often so if you have a problem I'd do away with it all together. You run a fuel line directly from the tank with a fuel filter and shut off inline. Plug the vacuum line on the carb.

You'll surly find any answer you seek here, very knowledgeable community. Looks like you may wanna get a kick start lever as well. Real nice to have in case the starter or the battery doesn't wanna play nice.

Looks liky you got yourself a nice 2T scooter there. Pretty much just like the Vento Triton, Yamati Rx8. Plenty of information here for maintaining, and performance upgrades. Sounds like the diaphragm in the petcock is ruptured. You can get a new one, or bypass it if you like.

Thanks guys, I will look into doing the conversion. For now I just want to get it running so me and my kids can have some fun on it before winter dumps a bunch of snow on us.

The stuff you need all comes from auto parts and hardware stores. Quicker than ordering a new petcock.

Kept tinkering around with it messing with the fuel and air lines and it started spitting and sputtering and would die out. Cranked the throttle and hit the button one more time before giving up for the night and it cranked over and stayed running. Ran it for about a mile and tho not running perfect it is running.

Welcome!
Most of these 2t scoots are practically identical with slightly different frames or body etc. Your motor is a Horizontal Minarelli. If you want to find parts or performance goodies or whatever search for "Minarelli" or "jog50" or "1e40qmb" etc. Happy Scootin!

Anyone have an idea on the top end speed of this thing? I got the speedo up to 35 earlier and backed off.

~40MPH cruise usually. A little more if you tuck down or catch some favorable conditions (tailwind, decline).

Welcome I just picked up 2 of those rx8 (triton clones) this summer. Great scooters with tons of potential. The admin has 2 build threads 2TDave has a great build thread lots of good stuff. The one i have running I've done nothing to but ride and it needs some attention it will run 42 gps stone stock and out of tune. Great starting point
