Something that has helped me is cut a slot in it with drummer an get a flat head screw driver. And some heat..

I've used this technique three times to a stripped bolt head and it has always worked for me on the small bolts on the transmission cover and on the oil pump. I used a drift (or a punch) and a hammer to give a medium hit to the bolt in the direction of rotation. Tap near the point of the bolt hex. I think by doing this it distorts the stripped head by displacing the metal. I then lay a peice of teflon tape double or triple folded over to sung the fit of the bolt head in the socket. Carefully try to turn the bolt with the socket.
