O and they call this a trouris town. Idk which is funnier, some place in Michigan a tourist town or some place in the middle of the desert, with lots of lights, a tourist town. :lmao:

It's kinda funny these Chinese scoots. I have now 3 Taotao's,well 2and1/3. Only have the motor and few parts left of one of them but the first 2came with 5g rollers and the newest one came with 6g rollers. I went to the local scooter store to get some sliders. Dude told me 6g sliders would do wonders. So I bought a set, went home and slapped them in. Not impressed at all. So I threw the socks back in and it was doing a little better. When I got the bbk they came with 8.5g rollers which to me seem to heavy. So on a whim I mixed the them with the 6's. I then for reasons unknown, weighed the sliders. Low and behold I got shamboozled! They weighed 5g not 6 like I was told and what the package indicated. Tonight I threw the stocks back in again with the bbk and I like a little better. Hopefully tomorrow is decent weather and I'll post pics of how I modified my variator for faster roller change out. Got to email u.s. patent registration first.

Draw your design on anything- even a napkin will do and put it in a stamped sealed envelope and mail it to yourself USPS. The postal stamp date is enough to hold up in court provided the envelope is still sealed... (I honestly don't know if this is true haha. I must've read it somewhere.) I did a 50mm 100cc (82cc) BBK on a 4t recently and had to put the heavy 8g roller weights (they came with the Ebay 02starrider BBK) in because the stock rollers felt like it wasn't "shifting"- like it was stuck in 2nd gear and revving out and I was looking for the shift lever to hit 3rd haha. Anyway I guess the moral of the story is I never thought a heavy rider like me (260 lbs.) would ever use 8g roller weights but they worked well in that app.!

That's great idea to mail it to myself, but this is America, they postpone my court date so they can change the law. Ya I'm thinking the 6g is a little lite. Maybe 7 7-1/2. I'm about 177 but the heavier weight does help it shift. I think it works better for down shifting more than up though. The heavier weight drops down faster IMO. Hopefully tomorrows weather corporates so I can do some time trials. But this F***ing small town cops got me on edge. I can't believe the trooper let me go last night.

I have up to 8g sliders. Though my RPM aren't as high as they were, I'll throw the 95 MJ in and try the 8g then 7g. I got the CHT gauges in (YAY!) so at least now I'll have a feel for what the engine is doing. I need to pick up a few spark plugs though for testing.

With straight 6 my top end acceleration dropped off. I was at 43mph, but mind you I'm doing urban driving and testing. I know if I had a half mile stretch it would be faster but it was stop light to stop light. The 50/50 of 6g and 8.5 which gives me 7.25g had more of sort low and mid but seemed to be better accelerating after 30 then the prior. I now have 5g sliders which gives ok but I'm thinking 6-1/2g might be the magic number for me. But I've run out of daylight and don't have 6n half to throw in. Time to start fabbing. To Be Continued.

So this is what I came up with for a quick change variator. I just drilled holes to match the spanner wrench I'd already built for removing the clutch. It works really good. I also modified my clutch housing to lighten it and help it cool. I'm still playing with roller weights but I'm in the area of 5 to 6.5.

Neat mods Clank. Never seen anyone do that to a variator before. I'd worry about strength and balance too much to do that to a bell. Might be fine though.

I used a bicycle axle to some what crudely balance it. Beings that I shaved 19oz from it and the clutch itself weights at least dbl that on the same shaft I'm hoping it will be okay. We'll soon see. I haven't noticed any funny vibrations and it's on a 3hp scooter not a 300hp dragster. So I wouldn't expect a katastroff ic failure. (Patrick, I'm just punning around my Canadian friend) I now know that you should either mask off the inside and or sand any paint of where the shoes contact.
