My scooter acting slower and less power. Stock 50cc 6500 miles. About 120psi. Pulled Cyl. apart export port on the piston side of cyl., the sides of the port was carboned up about a 3/8 inch on each side. (always ran cheap Auto Zone oil) Checked the ring gap top was .010 bottom .009 Piston looked good no blow by. Squish was .075 I Bought new some rings form SDS and checked the gap and they measured .010 and .012 Thats a long way for .007 Should I be concerned or just slap it together. Or buy a better name ring.

Thats too much gap for a 50. Get the right rings and try again.

I agree. Some of that low compression reading might be from the squish setting as well, although it shouldn't have changed along the way to cause a power loss. 0.075" is 1.9mm. You should be able to drop that down to 1mm and be plenty safe still. At very least, consider removing the head gasket and using copper spray instead. 1 head gasket should be worht 0.3-0.5mm.

I made a mistake in reading my mic in reads in mm. (still not sure how to read them) I bought a Digital caliper and remeasured my solider. And its 1.22mm But my ring gap is right. My head gasket is.32mm Not sure about not running without a gasket thought.

I just bought a 05 Zuma all stock and check the squish. And it read 1.72mm. But it has that hump in the squish area of the head. May change the head from the Vento Zip to the Zuma. I am going to keep the Zuma and sell the Vento.

As long as both surfaces are pretty true, it shouldn't be an issue using no head gasket along with copper spray.
