Hey guys. Figured I'd start a build thread to document the scooter while I wait on parts for my Jog to come in. A little background on it. I was surfing the good old craigslist and found a guy out of Tampa selling body parts for a pre-bug Zuma with "other parts available" but no prices. Also the listing was almost a month old so I figured he already got rid of all the parts. Well I email him asking what all he has available and he responds with everything but the wheels and tires, brake caliper, variator weights, and kick starter. So I ask what he wanted for the motor and a few other pieces. He responds with if I want to drive down there, just under a 2 hour drive each way, I could have it for free and it came with a title or he would deliver it for $120. Well since I didn't have anything going on yesterday I figured I'd take a drive down there and pick it up. Supposedly he took the bike apart for some unknown reason, he didn't even have a real excuse, a few years ago and never reassembled it. He said he moved into an apartment a little over a month ago and had no where to store the scooter/parts so he was driving around with a scooter in pieces in the back of his car. I loaded it into my car and drove home with the scooter with a title for just over $30 in gas. I totally forgot to take pictures of the scoot in my car before I put it into the garage. Here is some pictures I took today, sorry for the crappy pics. Box-O-Parts Parts stashed under a work bench And the engine that I'm gonna have to completely tear apart and rebuild Yes that crank is completely rusted and locked up in the case. I hope I can salvage the case but we'll see.

Yeah. He gave me the last registration he had for it and it was 2011. He said he started tearing it apart to clean the carb and it turned into this.

Yep! That was the guy. I just have to figure out how I want to go with this build since I have to start with from the ground up. The wife still doesn't know I have it either I might do a budget 70cc scooter and keep it. I need to go through the box and see what all is there so I can figure out what else I need to buy.

Good find!Looks like the crank is rusted,so it'll cost a bit to bring it back..Cant beat the purchase price though!!

Looks good just make sure the case isn't irreparable before you try fixing it.

Thanks. I'm hoping the case isn't to bad. Just have to order a flywheel puller to get that off then I can work on splitting the cases.

Seems to be a really nice kit. You'd spend considerably more buying parts separately and she should scream with that! One thing I don't see is a crank bearing/oil seal set. The crank bearings and seals from the more common horizontal Minarelli fits your crank too. Good luck with the build!

The pics of the Athena kit appear to be for the horizontal engine, not the vertical engine like you have..It may be a general pic though,I'd check before ordering...

I noticed that about the kit too so I emailed the seller to see what he says. If it's for the vertical engine I might pick it up as long as my cases aren't bad.
Also what seal kit do you guys recommend? I've noticed there is a bunch of different kits out there. Are some better than others?
