What's going on ppl? Question.....If you go up in mj size, can you lower the needle position? Or will the same issues occur?
Does/ Has anybody ever owned a chrome pipe?

Yep,the needle works from around 3/8 to 3/4 throttle, main jet around 5/8 to WFO.They all mix together. Its common to upjet then have to lean the needle to smooth it out..
The best chrome pipes are painted black!!

Hey john, thanks for the reply man... Soooo, i should lower the needle 1-2 notches then..? Remember i had that rattle before. Went ahead and upjetted 1 time(125mj), still WAY rich until i hit wot. spits, sputters bad still.. I did wonder if i could lower, awesome,i'll lower and test her out.. BTW, chrome pipes are cool...lol that spot turned bluer yesterday after the upjet

Well I lowered my needle 2 notches(3rd slot/middle). The mid was back, loved it, did get a touch of the rattle a cpl times around 1/3 throttle?.. Came home and raised needle to the 4th slot. Almost back to spitting/spuddering. The mid hard pull that was there withe the 3rd slot is gone; but the top isnt AS flat as with the 3rd slot... My pj's finally came in but I won't get them till tomorrow sometime. Could/would any of this clear up with a smaller pj? i assume i'm beating a dead horse w/o changing pj's but i should know the rwest a bit better...lol

Good evening guys... Well this evening i finally received my pj's for the oko carb.(they came a cpl days ago but was just now able to get em). I had actually read that after a kit, etc. that you should runa cooler plug from then on. I have also got a 2nd opinion that verified(a ol school shop sortof) so i got a br9 for the zx, i didnt get much of a ride in but it did seem a bit better, didn't seem to spit as bad, thinking i may be able to put my needle back in the 3rd slot, it runs better to me there, mid is harder.... Can i some advice or input on this pj jetting? I remember luke saying try a 38(because of the 45 now), sid was also gonna try but dont think i read any results on em. How will i know if TOO small? How will i know when it's ok?..good? I'm hoping that would help the initial takeoff, make it "snappier"/more responsive? I sure hope i can hear some advice on the pj's guys..........

Usually with a pilot jet you'll know when it's too big if you adjust the mix screw all the way lean to get it to run best. If you have to adjust it all the way rich, then the pilot is small. You should be able to get the best idle with room to turn the screw either way.

hey guys, i sure could some advice input on these here pj's... MAn, i put in a 38 this a.m from the 45 and she dont want to start. When it will start you HAVE to pull choke everytime, even when hot, seems slower now to. Is the pj one of those thigns where you HAVE to lower/raise the needle?.. I had wanted to place back in the 3rd slot but i left it alone to see the change from the pj. I dont really like the 38? ?? mix screw all the way IN, slows it better than before but dont kill it,1-1/2 out will kill it.. Has a very long return to idle can't seem to get rid of also... Where's my carb ppl at?...lol need some oko advice...

Might want to try a 42..A torch tip cleaner,or some guys use a sewing needle to enlarge the 38 just a tiny bit might do the trick too...

The needle is not working at idle, only when the slide is raised 1/4 and up.Getting the right pilot is a matter of having the scoot run well and have adjustability, only way to find out is try going to a different size.I'd rather have a rich pilot than a lean one... Edit; Look at the last page of this manual,it shows a good illustration of how each jet works at different throttle settings; www.mikuni.com/pdf/vmmanual.pdf

hey guys, Well i been playing a lil on the scoot. The 38pj,40pj was crap, went back to 45pj. Mix screw dont work still. Sprayed a new can looking for leaks, none found.... I had a malossi 1500 contra in but noticed something wasnt right.. Here is a pic holding pulley open 1 handed I regreased my t.d, installed a 1000 contra with 9g rollers but look at the crappy travel i was getting...... She was running good tho, i had no clue the belt was that slack on travel, could i have installed lighter wieght and fix that?(had 8g) Now i have a 1000 contra with 9g rollers, my rpm's are down some but i do seem to have picked up 2?mph... wouldn't going from 5.1 to a 9 be a huge jump up anyway?.... Should i install 1/2g less to try and get higher rpm?.. She steadily makes power but rpms are like lower and seems to take a hair longer to top oout.. Thanks for any input.... oh yeah, would a 2000 contra be for hole shots/wheelies/launching and oem or 1000 be for flats/tracks/accel??? trying to figure this out....still...lol trying to figure, the s9 launches but the zx dont

Ok, i have a 45pj and i can turn mix screw ALL THE WAY IN,(which in turn takes it to it's leanest point correct?)and she dont die, really unchanged...(currently around 3/4 out) No power loss though, could there be that much difference on a 42 vs 45. The kit has a 40 but it wasn't right either... So either pj is to big or a leak,correct?... (don't have a 42,16oz.can shows no leaks)....

If you can live with the fatter pilot(45),you will surely have good lubrication at off throttle times +++++!!

How is your belt width? Shouldn't be able to open that easy.
