Finally got myself a sym jolie also known as a dd50, it has the same motor as the Honda dio (gotta be good hey), it just needs some tlc and it will be back on the road. It cost me $400, a bit more than I wanted but they are hard to find around here cheap. Plans at the moment are to strip it and go over it completely while the panels are off, lot easier that way. Also want to paint it properly, it was registered as black so might keep with that and maybe add an extra colour, not sure yet. I have taken it for a run and so far it's all good, takes off like a rocket and holds a good top speed (have to GPS it yet), one thing I did find was at one point the cvt failed to downshift up a hill, I will get to all that stuff later. So anyone got some tips for painting the plastics, I have a compressor and a couple of guns but never have used them.

The fuel filler and seat both open with the key in the ignition, that's clever I think. Been browsing eBay and auto tech 355's store and man is there some hop up parts for these, I am tempted to put a bit of extra money into this and make it real fun. I have read somewhere on the net that the v8 exhaust is the go for these but there a two types, a stock looking one and an expansion chamber type, do not know which they are referring to, I would assume the expansion chamber but I would not know. Anyhow it will be a slow process as I have limited time to tinker in my shed and limited funds.

Found this today, i dont think it was working too well judging by how clean the air box was on the clean side of the filter. Dont know if i should try and track down an oem filter or buy some foam and cut myself. Also cleaned and repacked the fork bearings today - talk about delicate with 40 something ball bearings just waiting to go missing, all good though and i also degreased and washed every part of the frame and motor etc. I might start on the panels now, just got to pick a colour, i am thinking black with some yellow thrown in or just all black with yellow decals. Who prefers matt finish over gloss.

Leave those low quality kits alone! Trust me! Your money will be better spent on a quality polini corsa kit. Or maybe a malossi mhr or sport kit. You will not need a pipe al you will need is to upjet the carb and switch to a more responsive reed petal, wich is included with these better quality kits.. Fir best deals join Hondaspree.net contact RedEftPerformance tell him birdman sent you. The bread abd butter of any build is the cylinder crank combo, skimping there will cause a world of trouble.

My experince is with Minarelli engines, but I've done fine with kits from Autotech. You said you aren't after high performance, but mostly holeshot. Choosing something like an MHR kit would not be a good idea IMO given that stipulation. Why spend the money on a higher end cylinder kit, pipe, crank, and go through all the extra CVT tuning that comes with high revs just to be quicker off the line? You should be able to use a street/sport style big bore kit with carb tuning and some adjustments to the CVT and get very strong low end power compared to stock. Again, I don't know this engine platform, but most of the 2Ts will handle a street/sport BBK without a pipe without needing a crank. If people that know this specific engine tell you different, just ignore me.

Cheers Brent for the advice, Is there any problems with having a larger cylinder with stock intake/exhaust like overheating i should worry about and also is it worth the extra coin to do compared to an exhaust upgrade. last modded scoot i had was bbk and exhaust and it flew, i just hated the noise that came from the leo vince zx pipe.

I have personally seen 2 kits from carlos Dio kits, mar a cylinder to the point it doesnt run. One after the 3 months of hard daily riding, and the other i cant attest the condition or age but it did the same thing.. Once I saw this I stayed away from all Taiwan kits. Maybe the mina kits are better quality but im sketch about em. Even the 2 Tai pipes I had on my Jog before were short lived pieces of junk. So why not spend the little extra money on a contesta or malossi sport kit? It will be way more reliable and runs better, those Tai kits mimic what the sport ita kits do but with lesser quality. MHR or Corsa may be out of his range but, tuned correctly it would rip the low end better than a sport kit. My point is. Do it once, do it right, avoid cheap stuff anr start with quality components.

Again no experience with that engine, but as long as the carb isn't very tiny and the exhaust isn't small or clogged it should be alright with a mild 70cc. ~15-16mm carb should be enough. On the Minarelli a stock ~16mm carb has done OK for me with a BBK and pipe in the mid 9000RPM range for peak.
I don't see the point of just doing an exhaust vs a big bore if what you're after is just power to get moving and you don't like upping sound levels. Pipes can increase acceleration and speed and they can extend the RPM where you make power, but the pipes that do well for speed and higher revs are likely to be a little louder. I think you would be pleased with a street/sport 70cc, more so if you take your time and pay attention during setup to get the details right. Not really sure exactly what's out there for those engines, but something like a Leo Vince SP3 or GP or Stage 6 Street could be a good choice if you end up thinking the exhaust is a restriction. Those kinds of pipes usually give you a little boost in power all around without being much, if any, louder than stock. They don't offer the stronger "hit" of a full tuned pipe, but they don't rob you of low end torque like most tuned pipes either.
