Also one thing to try if a inductive tach is not working properly is to change the amount of times you have the pickup wire wrapped around the spark plug wire.

Right, I have to confirm that it is still in the same position as I set it at the very beginning. Thx. I did connect it to the igniton coil once but then swapped to the spark plug wire.

You should try another exhaust. I think thats your bottleneck. Try one with a proper expansion chamber suitable for street-midrace 70s.

Today I wanted to get to the bottom of that rpm issue no matter if I have to take the whole engine apart. First tested with another tacho, same result. So tacho is/was not broken. Next CVT again, this time I went through all my variators and belts and roller combinations. And....I reached max rpm of 9200! Finally! And to not forget what combination did what for future reference I will write the best setups down now. Carburetor setup

The straight groove torque driver cost me around 300-500rpms the after market variator cuts another 800-1000rpm. The thing is if I want to use the BMF variator I need the straight groove torque driver otherwise I will loose power and torque between 30-50 km/h the stock variator on the other hand can be used with either one and will perform good - very good. Couldn't test the Polini Evo Variator since I don't have the right rollers yet. As Lucass2T mentioned the next step to raise rpms will probably be a different pipe. I plan to get a Yasuni R or one of those crazy Japanese pipes depends on my $$$ budget at that time.

Today I installed again the after market sponge. And changed the jetting from 38/90 to 37/92. Curious to see how that will perform. And here my poor working space.

Just came back from a test run and right away reverted the above changes. It runs but it bogs at 3/4 and also when you crank it and release it and crank it and release it, doing that bogs the scoot down hard. Put back the 38/90 setting and all is good again. 37 might be a touch to lean for the current carb slider and needle setting? I think that is all I am gonna touch on that scooter for now. It runs again as it should rpm wise and I will not experiment with it anymore. Next time I post something here in this thread will be something about a nice pipe. Till then....

What about getting rollers for the Polini? Yeah, that would be a smart thing to do BUT! I have no $$$ right now to pay $30 for shipping on a bunch of rollers. I just spend a few $$ for an Action Cam which hopefully should arrive this month. I thought I order 19x15.5 roller weights together with the Yasuni R somewhere during Summer.

Looking around for a Let's 2 rear shock here in Japan most guys say it is 265mm long. Well, not that it would help you more though even if it would be a 265mm shock. Daytona sells springs (260mm): www.webike.net/sd/9660724/Now I am confused, I see shocks from 245 up to 275mm for Let's II. But I guess you can use any fork that would fit a Jog too right? Just need to choose your length.

Both the stock rear shocks I've got are measuring up 245mm bolt centre to bolt centre. Can easily go a bit longer though, thinking 275mm would be the absolute max I'd run, would prefer not to lift the rear much though. I've got an AN125 rear shock here, it's 320mm and it fits but lifts the rear to the point the engine mount is hard against the head.
