Are there any freaking solutions as to a backrest? I have seen Kymco's etc with the foldable driver backrest, not the passenger kind. I desperately need some ideas so fling some out there yall.

If you have a sturdy metal rack in the back or a few good locations to bolt something on you could probably create one with metal and a pad of some sort. There are some scooter/motorcycle ones out there that may be able to work. Google "motorcycle backrest" or "scooter backrest" for some ideas. Some rack mount storage boxes have a pad so they could function as a backrest, but with the mounting and materials most are made of I wouldn't really trust them to lean on.

The GMW Jet Classic I had came with a nice sturdy backrest. Like 90GTVert mentioned, I wouldn't trust the cheapy plastic trunks to lean against but this one had a metal bracket for the backrest...

I know, I had a cheap poj box with the backrest. Ya know, the ones that have the Mercedes Benz style taillights and a spoiler It was so cheap I sent it back and was thankful that I did. I'm however not talking about the passenger backrest but one for me. I am going to do 2k miles on my GY6 and prob put it on adventure rider or something as I go. I am tired of people talking down the quality of Chinese scooters. If well prepped, tuned, and maintained you can go to the coast right now if you wanted to. I have searched my but off trying to find something that would work. A Kymco seat won't fit or that would be perfect. (some have a driver backrest.) I am going to fab something up since I figured it out. I can get lucky on the GY6 since it's already got a seat strap that has short bolts underneath the seat to keep it on. It will take some metal strapping, simple bends, a thin piece of wood that's treated and very firm. Have my wifey go to Hobby Lobby with me and get some waterproof type material so she can use her uber seamstress skills for me later, a firm foam pad and maybe some staples along with black spray paint. I already have all this laying around in memorable fashion. Off to read the one thread on how to post pics now for later on. I will get back.

Oh, sorry. I thought you were saying you didn't want the driver backrest. If you look through the google image searches I suggested, you'll see some people have made their own driver backrests as well. Some appeared to mount high back lawnmower seats and one dude had a bucket seat mounted on the scoot. lol The mower seat doesn't sound that bad to me, but would really be for people willing to redesign their frame and rethink underseat storage.

FWIW, most of the smallish riding mowers I've seen have flip up, hinged seats that sit above the battery, so it may not be quite as difficult to adapt as one might think.

No problem.. Let us know if/how it works out.. Looks like I will be getting a cheap running scoot soon and I might look into doing similar. Some of those seats are actually pretty cozy/meant to be sat in for a while. Might check with mower dealers/repair shops as they might have a decent seat on a failed mower they'd be happy to make a couple of bucks on.
