Picked up a scooter today. Brand is omni okc 600. Found almost nothing for this on Google. Seems to be the same scooter as a taotao atm50-a1. Anyways it's got no spark. It doesn't have a battery in it, and the ignition switch has been removed. I ordered a new ign coil. Wondering if it will start without the ignition switch using the kick start.it has 238 miles and was in storage for last 12 years. It's in great shape. Please advise

First thing would be to get rid of any of the old fuel. Probably all lines need to be replaced. If it's had gas in it then the fuel tank most likely needs to be cleaned out. The carb will need cleaning or replacement. Is it the same engine as the TaoTao, the 139QMB four-stroke? Or does it use a two-stroke? Either way, whatever oil it has should be replaced after 12 years as well as the gear oil. Check all connections in the ignition system. It will prob kick start without the ignition switch. Kill switch must be off. You can start by seeing if you get power out of the stator. Disconnect the 2 wires for the pickup and the power to the CDI. Black/red and blue/white are popular colors, but they will be individual wires and not in a connector with others in the common scooter engines. One should show about 0.5VAC when the engine is kicked over, the other should be 50VAC or more when kicked over. If you don't have power out of the stator you won't get a spark. It could also be the coil or CDI or malfunctioning kill switch or even a spark plug, but start there.

The kill circuit works by applying a ground. Check continuity of different terminals on an ign or read diagrams and you'll see what I mean hopefully. I hate to get too much into this stuff because of potential use for negative purposes. If it is a DC ignition system then it may be a different story because the ign switch would need to supply 12V to the CDI for it to work.

So it's not going to start without an ignition switch?

It won't start without the ignition switch, unless you bypass it. If you bypass it anyone could just walk up and drive it away. You should replace the ignition switch and perform any other tasks related to getting it started ( ie getting rid of stale fuel etc)

Can't find the right ignition switch to replace it with. Is there a way to post a picture of it on Here?
