i didn't mean to insinuate that you don't like them, i just meant that after looking back at alot of your threads i know how much you like the bare bars.

I ordered the gloves I linked to earlier and the handguards below. They look just as good to me, and when shipping is calculated they're about half the price of the others I posted. I will definitely let you know how both work. The gloves are gonna take a bit to get here for some reason, so I'm guessing I'll be trying guards and my current gloves first. If I get a similar temp night, that should be a pretty fair test. cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250633153658

If you've got time, can you do a write up on the installation of the guards? I'm riding the scoot everywhere I go now, and, like you, I can stay warm, but my fingers get cold once I get into the 20's and ride for more than a few miles.
PS: My gear for riding in cold...
1 nylon pantyhose 2 thermal pants 1 skinny jeans 1 t shirt 1 thermal shirt 1 sweatshirt 1 light jacket 1 ski jacket 1 bandana (for face) 1 leather face cover 1 beanie 1 pair of TecH20 gloves (for hunting) 1 pair of socks, maybe two.
And if it's realllllly cold I add another pair of bigger jeans.
It takes me a while to get ready.

I'll try to do a little write-up for you and anyone else that may want it. One thing you could do in the mean time is get thin glove liners if they'll fit in what you've got. They are pretty cheap, like $5-10. You can pick up some really cheap ones in some hardware stores, not sure if they're as good. My old gloves just wouldn't fit them. I've heard of putting latex gloves over the liners too, not sure if that works well. Latex gloves were all I could fit under mine and I can't say they did anything good or bad right against my skin.

That makes me think of how Ralphie's mother dressed his younger brother for cold weather in A Christmas Story. Lol. ;D

I've found that if I dress like I'm going skiing, then I'm loving life,l down to 38* (my coldest night so far). I've got a pair of Zero Degree (I think that's the brand, but it may be the model) gloves that work great. Those wind guards might be nice anyway though, because sometimes it's not *quite* cold enough for the bulky gloves, but the fingers still get chilly at speed...
Definitely let us know how those work out.

Very nice. Putting that Kawasaki resemblence to good use. The jagged design may actually look cool on yer scoot. Not so much for a retro, but the price is right. lol

Yup the bright green would probably clash with the retro. lol
Did a test ride today just to confirm the misery. Got up to 34 so i layered and layered and headed out. 20 min was all i could take. And half of that time my fingers were in pain. Got home with numb finger tips. Sure hope i can "rig" these hand grips the way i am assuming. I need to get a ride in. I'm getting cranky!!!

I got my handguards today and installed them. No testing yet. We got our first snow today (other than light flurries) so it might be a bit before I try them. They aren't really attractive, but if they work I don't care. There is a quality issue with the plastic clamps, but I haven't fixed that yet. My hands were freezing in the garage since I hate wearing gloves to work on this sort of thing. Kinda odd to freeze my hands to prevent freezing my hands. lol All the details of the installation and the issue with this particular product are here... 49ccscoot.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=hints&thread=1167

Nice. I don't think they look bad at all.
That mount looks a lot like mine is going to be. Could you tell if there is an easy mod to attach it the mirror mount point?

they don't look bad at all, especially considering if they serve the purpose for which you bought them for. practicality's not always pretty.

They look pretty awesome if you ask me. Thanks for sharing the process, I was interested to see if they needed to bolt onto the ends - as that's where my mirrors are. Wish I had 'em right now. Having fun running errands today in the snow

You can tell when Brent gets a new part, as something else will appear in the how to section! Keep up the good work.
