Ok I've been on a bit of a hiatus lately due to figuring some things out but I have some news again for people with crappy headlights.
I bought a new fairing kit from scrappy dog since they were the only ones not charging an arm and a leg and said in stock. The headlights were dim due to being an 18 watt bulb and my old fairings were 35 watt bulbs before they were broken so stockish headlights were a let down.
I found a $50 "hid projector kit" it had a red back light and blue "ccfl" halos. Came with ballasts bulbs projector and lens labeled wires and little tiny fans on the back of the projector. The kicker is it was rated at 18 watts for the headlights.
Well they arrived and I was let down to see led projector on the box. I shoulda known it was too good to be true.
I decided to install anyways and deal with it most likely not performing up to the 2200 lumens per bulb they claimed. Well after installing I'm pleased to say the single bulb led is bright as can be and has a very nice lighting pattern and I couldn't have been more surprised.
The light up lens looks pretty cool and the halo looks alright for being an led one too. It has a high beam low beam function but just gets a little brighter but you don't really need it. I wired it up to a switch so I could turn off the high beam and just run the lens light and halo if I wanted to. Or use the high beam. I wired the halo and lens light to the peanut bulb power wire and put a switch for each one so I could run one or both or neither but their ignition and engine running hot so I can't forget their on. The weird part is though the halos blink when the turn signals are flashing but the red light stays solid. They share the same ground and power but I'm not complaining. It catches and alerts other drivers and I had thought about attempting that with a relay but now I don't need to. Well worth the money in my book but here's some pictures. If anyone wants a link to the headlight kit ill gladly share. I'd but another set in a heartbeat and its rare to say that on an ebay headlight purchase.
