Okay, so today i happen to find a bench top Milling Machine and a small 2 foot metal lathe, Both for $500. So i went and got them and brought them home. now im looking for projects to do. since i have both of them i can do my own 90cc build if i wanted to. but why stop there. I have been a fan of the wankel rotary engine for a long time now, and i loved the old suzuki rotary motorcycle when i got to ride one last year and when i got to drive a twin turbo RX7. But now since i have my own machining tools, and have caught the scooter bug, why not try to build a Rotary powered scooter engine? i found one of these engine on google and thought they would be a good start for ideas. i want to keep the scooter CVT transmission and couple it to the rotary housing, so it has a swingarm like the Honda Ruckus. But id have to find one that is longer for a larger wheel, like a 12 or 13" and so it would have enough room for either the exhaust or the sparkplug boot. but this here is my idea now that i have the lathe and mill.

How about pics of your new tools?

This will be a beast if you can get it done. According to their site the model of engine in your pic puts out about 40HP!

Yeah, i want to build one. if i can get it anywhere close to what the Aixro XR50 is, it will be an absolute monster. but with 40HP id have to beef up the frame and suspension, or build an entirely new frame all together. i have all the measurements to build the rotor and housing, but the measurements i have only make the engine to be about 130cc. still though, it would be truly unique. but once i have the housing and rotor built, i have to figure if i want it air or water cooled. water cooled would help it last longer, but im not sure how id build the case and faceplates to accamadate the water passages. I found this site where someone built his own rotary engine for RC planes. Wankel

You will need a long case CVT cover to enlarge the wheel size (assuming that you now have a short case). Neat project. I hope it works out for you (and maybe sell them).

At this moment i just have my 1e40qmb engine on my scooter. ill have to find a transmission case that will be long enough for a large wheel. and it has to be longer because unlike a typical piston and crank engine the rotary engine is all in one area, but once i start the project ill be able to go from there. and as for selling them, that would be awesome, but it will take a while due to material costs, machining parts and trial and error. but im confident if i can get the engine assemble done, and the electrical parts and get it running on a test bench, i should be able to put it to real world use. but again. its going to take awhile, as my mill isnt a cnc andi have no idea how to use a cnc.

I thought the ruckus used a 120/90/10 tire. If so you should be able to use a 12 inch tire
