Has anyone ever used the threadlock from HF? and is it any good? Thanks.

No personal experience. I saw the 1 star reviews on their site when I considered it and changed my mind. When I was looking around I found Bardahl thread locker (I got the blue medium) significantly cheaper than the same quantity of Loctite/Permatex. Had it for a while now and it works well as far as I can tell.
