So now my scooter is hard to start. Sometimes it won't start unless I plug the exhaust with my finger while I push the start button.
When I come to a stop, the motor stalls and almost dies. When I snap the throttle the engine almost dies. To get goin I gotta barely feather the throttle until it gets started.
I wish I wasn't such a 4 stroke dummy...

What if it isn't the carb?
Has it had a valve adjust recently?

Bought it in october already got 4712 miles. Never adjusted valves. The only adjustment to the carb I did was lowering the idle.

The gas guage is probably just the float hanging up. If you can get to the gas tank it comes out easy, just pull it out and see if you need to adjust it to move more freely. Last time mine was just a little stop washer that needed to be moved slightly hanging it up.

The gas gauges on these China scoots are notorious for that. Goosey has a good idea. I just keep a 5 gallon can full and fill her up every few days. After all, your getting 70 ish MPG. I can run a week and a half off a full 1.5 tank.

Once again....a million thank yous to all who gave me the ever so valuable advice. My scoot purrs like a kitten again!!!! Gas gauge float is my next tinkering. Oh yeah...rear brake problem fixed.
Just finished the valve adjustment. adjusted the idle...on my carb where the fuel air screw should be, theres just a flat disc, nowhere for me to put a screwdriver. changed oil.

As long as it's purring, you may not wanna mess with it. Sometimes they put something over the mix screw to keep you from tinkering.

Purring is good The fuel float just twists out of the tank. There's a round rubber gasket, don't lose that. You can tell if the guage itself works by moving the lever around by hand, the float unit is only abt. $15 if you find you need a new one.
