Hey my american scooter friends,

as you know i'm from Germany and this summer (around july), after finishing my Abitur (Highschool diploma) I planned a scooter europe-tour to Pisa, Italy with my cousin and a friend of mine. The whole journey will take about 9 to 10 days and about 1450 miles ,depends on the my planning and on the range of our scooters. With range I mean our physical endurance and how many miles we can make within an hour.

It will be a very hard journey because we will drive about 7-8 hours a day to make 185 Miles (a stage).

On this journey we will drive through the Upper Rhine Plain between France and Germany, all along the rhine river.

Then we will cross whole Switzerland and "climb" the alps.

After this hard challange, easier streets will welcome us in Italy, the country of scooters. We will pass suburbs of Mailand and make a small left turn before Genova. Up to this turn we will follow the small, mountainous coast roads through picturesquely italian villages down to Pisa. (You can Street View that ;])

That's just a small summary of the whole trip. If you want you can visit my blog. It will show how we camp, drive and records all the things we experience on this awesome trip.

I was telling Brent (90GTVert) about the abundance of parts for scooters in Europe, apparently they only have 3 or so big brands over the pond.

It sounds like that will be an amazing journey. I had to zoom the map way out just to see your whole route! lol ;D I wish you all the best of luck on your trip, and I'll be looking forward to seeing the video. Definitely remind us all when you complete it.

@90gtvert: Yes it's quite a long route, but it's feasiable ... I hope it is. We will see what the testride about 90miles with some 12% hills (like it happen in the alps) and usualy mountainous roads will say.

I talk with some german and swiss scooteristi and they told me I can calculate with an average speed of 23,5 MPH.

What about you? Do people in the USA do tours with 50cc scooters?

Rarely. Josh, drawkward here, had planned to travel across the US at one point. Just didn't work out that he was able to.

23.5MPH avg sounds close for a hilly area, although I don't know if the 4T 50cc will do that. I read over the blog, but never saw any details on the 4T. Hopefully it's modified. I think my 80cc 4T averaged 24-25MPH and I would do a lot of cruising at 40+ on flat ground. Every stop and turn really drops the average speed. Of course that's my long term average, calculated with a lot of time at red lights and stop signs etc...

Yes I also was a bit suprised about 23,5MPH, but I think our avg will be around this.

The story with our China 4 Stroke ... it won't be a stock-setup for this but we cannot change the CC because of the chance of getting caught by the police. The most police problems will be in Germany, meaning the first 150km, the rest of the journey is pretty safe. France will not haunt scooters and Switzerland got other restrictions so scooter-tuning is not that popular.

We choose mostly rural roads with no traffic lights and if roads cross mostly it's a roundabout. So I think we can stay on the gas

and police stay away from us.

I'm really excited to drive in Italy with all the other scooteristi
