At least take the CVT cover off and take a look, shouldn't be more than a few hex bolts.
Yeah you need to fix that speedo puck so it spaces properly.
that round thing looks like the horn to me, lol.

Oh wow ok, Speedo puck gets ordered first! Thanks for letting me know! Does that washer look right? I'll do the Speedo puck first, then look into the cvt issue. I'm going to be out town for a few weeks so I won't be able to replace the puck until I get back but I can pull the cvt cover off before I leave and post pictures so maybe you guys will be able to tell me if it looks like something bad is going on under there. Thanks again for all the help!
Edit: Where should I get the gear puck and Speedo cable from? How do I know which one is right for this "Gator?"

Don't know if the washer is right or not because I don't know how it's supposed to look, sorry.

The old puck can still be used without the gear drive in there unless there is something else wrong with it?. The puck is the spacer.
What did you mean by "shredded"?

I think I still have it. I said shredded because broken black pieces of something that I dont know what were, fell out of it. I'll reinstall tomorrow and take pictures, maybe that will work temporarily.

If it ever did look like that then it was definitely shredded, what I pulled off there was some mangled wires and crumbling plastics. I'll look through the part I took off and take pictures tomorrow.

Just gut it if you can and all that should be left is the housing with the spacer inside it. That's all you need. You don't need a speedometer until you figure out the engine/CVT issues anyway because however fast you will be moving will be too slow.

Here is the answer to your question about the parts in the front of your scooter:

Wow! Thank you for the labeled diagram on my own picture! Also, my headlights stay on constantly when the power/scooter is on, I was going to mess with all that when the I had to take those front panels off to replace the speedo cable. Today's agenda though is: 1. Taking some pictures of what's left of the gear puck I removed and possibly reinstalling it. 2. Watching that video about how to do a CVT inspection and 3. Taking some pictures of what's under the CVT cover.
Thanks for all your guys' help, this forum is awesome!!

This was all that was left on the wheel when the scooter was purchased and I don't believe this is even useful as a spacer so I will be ordering a new gear puck before I do anything else:

Wish I could tell you what its supposed to look like or what I'm looking at but I really haven't messed with the speedo puck on mine except for taking off the speedo cable and unscrewing it.
Looking forward to the pictures of the CVT

Good to see you digging into it Tremella! Don't get to comfortable the ultimate goal will be to get you to come over to 2 stroke world. Insert evil chuckle

Btw, your headlight will be on when the motor is running. It is powered by your ignition.

Btw, your headlight will be on when the motor is running. It is powered by your ignition. Oh! Good to know! Also, is my engine a 2-stroke? Did I post in the right forum area? And what does it mean (2 stroke vs 4 stroke) I am getting the impression that the antique scooters are 2 stroke? I was probably supposed to read something at the top of the page right? I'll look in a minute...
For now, I was not able to get the CVT cover off. T screws were nice and loose but the problem is that I need one of those extenders on my ratchet wrench (while I was able to access some of them, most of them the nose wasn't long enough). Do they sell an adapter thing for that? What's it called and I should be able to get it at Lowe's right?
So I didn't accomplish much and I just have more questions but I am learning a lot from you guys and I hope you enjoy sharing your expertise because I sure appreciate it! Here's the pictures with questions:
1. This hose was going to an the (air filter?) and appears to have a leak: i.imgur.com/cMJ4W0X.jpg
2. A mysterious brown tube: i.imgur.com/GAiLHHG.jpg
3. The (air filter?): i.imgur.com/Q1QCUle.jpg
4. and I took a picture of the carburetor, you know... in case you wanted to see it: i.imgur.com/1MZd5X0.jpg
Thanks for the help!!
