as title suggests. would i get more top speed from a slightly longer cvt belt? at the moment i can see about 3-4mm of un marked face on my variator. meaning the belt isnt getting up there.
would a slightly longer belt do it for me? at the moment my standard belt is 792-15.5-30. maybe around the 800 mark work or am i looking for trouble?
cheers

close the two variator halves and stick your belt inbetween them, does it line up with the marks?
a longer belt is only going to help if you are limited by the rear pulley's smallest diameter.
theres a ton of variables going on with the CVT and its really hard to go through everything.
an aftermarket variator would be a better first step to getting those few mm of travel

I would try an ever so slightly wider belt before I try the longer belt...

Narrow belts, light rollers, stiff contra springs, and anything that could cause the rear pulley to keep from opening all the way can also reduce speed. For a Minarelli a 15.5mm wide belt would be a speed limiter from what I've seen. I use 788 17 28 Bando belts and once they wear down over a mm the speed difference or increase in RPM is usually noticeable.
