Don't buy a PWK carb thats not a genuine Keihin. Every PWK carb thats not a Keihin is a replica and thus not the Keihin quality. Try to aim for the best.
If you are planning to port the cylinder you can use a 32mm carb. I would. Otherwise i'd stick with 28mm. Either a genuine Keihin PWK or a Mikuni TM. Dellorto has some really nice racing carbs from the VHSA, VHSB and VHSC series.
And yes...this is gonna be an expensive one!
Btw..can i ask why you chose the 86 malossi?

I'm of little help with high end stuff because it's not something I've had the cash to play with, but I will say I'd swap out the MHR reeds for a VFORCE3 setup. I own both and the only reason I'd choose the MHR is to save money, which it doesn't appear is a huge concern here. Maybe I'm dead wrong and the VFORCE sucks with high rev stuff, someone with experience there feel free to correct me. They have a couple of versions. S6 and Top Performance. I have the S6 and one directly from Moto Tassinari (about $20 more). The MT has reeds that look like what the TP part has, but also includes the stuffer the S6 shows that I'm not sure if the TP includes. scootertuning.ca/en/intakes/100006-reedblock-top-performance-vforce3.htmlscootertuning.ca/en/intakes/4029-reed-valve-stage6-vforce3.htmlI just swapped the MHR for the MT VFORCE3 on T2 and it was more smooth down low. I've swapped them on a little more rev happy scoot and felt a difference in response and output. Nothing big, but if you're going that far I'd wanna put some good reeds in there. There's also stuff like the link below so you could adapt KX85 reeds to the engine. precisionracingparts.com/shop/drr-billet-reed-spacer-kx85-reed-adaptor/
