I cut the wires and extended them about 4 feet with my roll of old cheap speaker wire, pic shows results,no differance in temp! I soldered and heat shrinked the connections, then checked it again, still works, put the heat gun on it up to 250f.I think we have a keeper here!About 1.75"long,.75" wide and .5" thick. numbers are clear even for my old blind eyes. When I finish with the install,I'll post it for ya'll.

It has a "loop" at the end with a bit of silicone tubing to snug up on whatever. It seems to work well around the spark plug base right below the hex.Might not be as good as a plug gasket probe, but it should be fairly close.I'm still working out the 22mm Mikuni install(will post results),but when she's back making smoke,I'll give a full report!

Initial garage run;; Fired it up tonight after much adapting on the 22mm Mikuni install.Read 122 degrees at idle then when I advanced the throttle,it shut off!I tried to turn it back on, but no luck.Shut off engine, powered up CHT,185 degrees... I suspected it did not like the high voltage running thru the spark plug,so I moved it to a fin next to the lower head nut by jamming some silicone fuel hose between it to hold it tight. Fired it up,got a steady reading!Hope to get a short ride in early in the morning before I go to work. Will post results..

Got a chance to test the CHT install today. The unit is very touchy about getting the leads near the spark plug wire. After rerouting the lead on the other side of the harness away from the coil and plug wire, all works well.My carb install didnt allow me to get the engine to full temp, but the CHT gauge gave me temp readings that would be only a guess otherwise..

Thanks for the notes 190mech, that will help allot when i wire one up. Hope you get your carb worked out. The temp gauge will help tune for WOT.
