No it's not too late- most would've suggested buying a ball hone btw ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) I have a feeling if you give it a quick hone (literally move the hone up/down quickly!) and get your squish clearance set up right your compression might just be up in the 150's!

Just to clarify: Move the hone up and down quickly in forward, and then move it up/down quickly in reverse- badaboom badabing you have a nice crosshatch! That crosshatch is gonna help to hold the oil in the walls of the cylinder which should help your compression a bit (should be fine to use the rings you just got, but we'll also need to know the end gaps of those)... then, please please please bolt your cylinder and head on dry with no gaskets and let us know what your squish clearance is. From there we can help point u in the right direction regarding base gaskets/head gaskets, and possibly another joy of 2t tuning... head shaving! Maybe....

Ok, so push it down while pushing and pulling quickly, then pull it up while pushing and pulling quickly. Yea I got the 3 long stone hone for $20 and they said it can be adjusted for multiple cylinders, so I went for it. It has 320 grit stone on. I couldn't find any solder, and that's the only thing missing right now. Most places want $9 for a roll -_- PS: I rode the bike on a flat and I can get up to 42mph still... this thing is to temperamental... and tomorrow I need to go around 40miles round trip, I'll have to do it then.

do you have a harbor freight?
also try radioshack if they are still around

so let's say the ring gaps are too wide and the squish is wide also, what do I do?

run no head gasket to lower squish (seal with gasket spray or something)
ring gaps too wide- order new rings

Also so I managed to only take off the first ring and I measured it at .010 0.254 mm there were 2 numbers on the gauge. This is what fits the snuggiest. i measures this at both the top near the port and bottom of the opening i also had the old ring and I was curious so I measured it at .330 or .356 I forgot. 3. Im looking for a solder right now that's free or cheap. 4. I also found an old cylinder head from a kit that seized on me a year ago and I noticed the ring gasket is a little better so I am putting that on. ###zResult: went up and down a block, still the same, loss of power after 20mph, tops at 35mph (yesterday on a flat I got 42mph) Compression tester is slightly below 90psi, yesterday was slightly above 90psi

That ring gap is ok according to the ring gap calculator... The hone marks aren't too bad but should really be at more of a 45 degree angle- basically just means you need to move the hone in and out faster! Ok, now as far as compression goes- just need to know your squish clearance!

Any way I can save buying cheaper?

Lead is stupid expensive due to the 'tree huggers' closing down all the USA plants..You gotta know somebody who has a moldy old roll of the stuff in their basement..Any old dude in their 60's that fixes stuff will have it!

I suppose you could use modeling clay on the crown much like checking piston to valve clearance on a four-stroke. Smear some oil on the side that will hit the head. Then you'd need to take the head back off and measure where it's thinnest, possibly needing to slice the clay somewhere for better access to measure. The modeling clay is less fun to work with for these jobs. I'd rather pay the extra for solder for the convenience and a roll of solder should last quite a while.

Agreed Brent! The clay method was all we knew in the 70's..Cutting the clay to get a side section gave you a rough estimate compared to the solder method..There is no clay in my shop now,,only moldy rolls of forbidden solder!!

I'll try to find that 1/8" solder again...
SO just wondering why did this happen again when I already replaced the rings only 1 week ago?
I'm thinking of buying that Malossi Liquid cooled cylinder for the Super 9 to prevent this from happening again as this is already my 3rd BBK in 2 years. But I'm worried it won't fit into the Super 8

if you bought rings and i havent read everything, to raise compression, you need to hone the cylinder and probably jst take it somewhere as much as youd pay for a hone and get somene to do it right, and also clean the cylinder after you, they get done with hot water, dawn and a paper towel. use a cht gauge and watch temps and dont let it get too hot. if its getting too hot, then jetting isnt right or theres some air leak. before you put a cylinder together if the rings are new, check ring gap. it should new only be too tight. if its too loose, then theres seomthing wrong with them and take them back. make sure your mixing the oil right.

I ended up ordering the 70cc BBK super 9 LC and electric water pump.
Even though the part numbers are different the owner of the shop said that the crank and everything is the same... (puts a dent in my credit card)
I'm just so tired of seizing and having issues like this as at this point I already wasted 3 BBKs. This Liquid cooled BBK will be my 4th and I hope my last one.
I was also told that I need a vespa radiator... anyone know where to get one used or have one to sell?
